What did you do with your tank(s) today?

@lloyd378, Another community tank, instead of another big cichlid... interesting choice, I like it!

Ive had more fun with my community tanks than the solo bruisers. Though I will be in the replace fish phase again soon when my SD's grow out. Not sure what Im going to do with a 90g or possible 65 if I move something around. Nice to have the choices when you have multiple tanks running. How many tanks are you running now?

I currently have 4 in the garage (220 hybrid amph pair) 180 ( jagX Dovii), 75g ( chocolate cichlid, 2 small bichirs, and a couple of silver dollars) 75g fahaka puffer

In the house i have a living room 75 w/ plants and a ton of small tropical community fish ( probably close to 30)

And finally my bedroom tank 75g with these new fish.

Once school starts back up I’ll have a 29g that I’ll probably do one of my amph hybrid babies.

I still want to do discuss at some point, but I’d want them in a large tank inside the house.

@lloyd378, those are cool killi fish! Do they always swim around towards the bottom to mid level of the tank? I got some golden wonder killi fish recently and they are on the surface all the time, kind of like hatchet fish that way. They really are cool fish, but short life span from what Ive read, about 3 years or so I believe.

A bit rough pic of my Killi

Just an interesting behavior thing with the Pearsei and Oscar. The Oscar has pretty much settled in. He responds to feeding time quite enthusiastically and rushes to the food. Its not what he like but at least he responds well. I add his algae wafers when I drop the food so he will eat those. The Pearsei lets him eat first and kind of waits for him to clear out before feeding. Was interesting to see that bit of pecking order behavior though no outward signs were ever shown by the Oscar.

The other interesting behavior was in this Oscar itself. It was never one to really swim around the 90g tank. It kind of had a pit area where it rested until feeding. It is exhibiting the same basic behavior in the 300 where it found a spot behind decor where it chills a lot of the time. I think Ive read of some Oscars in the wild that tended to do the dead thing and then pounce on unsuspecting prey.

Yes, this pair swims in the lower portion of the tank and the male has the coolest split / lyre tail that is bordered in white.

While cleaning tanks today, noticed another swordtail gone. This was the other big female, so now only the one male left. Not sure how they are getting taken out but I thinking one of the sajica cichlid is a killer though Ive never caught any aggression towards them when I watch. I guess I need huge livebearers to pull it off. Maybe I might try some Buenos Aires tetras instead

My swordtails have been slowly dying off too. Not sure why either.

Very bored with my Sajica tank… no breeding activity yet and just not a lot going on in this tank. After adding the swordtails there was a much higher activity level with less hiding but now that they are getting picked off, not sure what I want to do.

My 90 gallon silver dollar growout also needs something. Maybe a calm fish would calm them down? Considering moving a red spot severum from my other tank with them…

Loving the killifish in the 46g bowfront but tank still is missing something. Still think a small group of rainbows.

Continue to deal with my red wolf and his eye issues. Seems pretty blind in one eye. Having removed the piece of decor he was hurting himself on only had limited success. Do I go with a completely open tank and remove even the mopani to see if that is the cause of his eye injury not healing?

Thats my recent tank updates.

Isn't a 90g a bit small for SD's, even as a grow-out tank? IME these fishes get very skittish if they don't have enough swimming room...

It is not ideal but the choice is to let them get eaten by the bichirs in the 300. Besides at this point I am still considering this a quarantine time frame so I would not put them with any of the other fishes. My understanding is that this species is wild caught so I definitely want to make sure they are free of any potential parasites before they get moved.

Can you put the wolf fish in with the sajica. Before I sold my wolf fish, I had him in a cichlid tank and he was completely fine with them ( I did give him a log to hide in and made sure to feed plenty of frozen krill so he wouldn’t nip / bite the cichlids.

On side note: the wetspot has more killi fish ( the same as mine… I thought about getting a second pair, but I like to pick out my fish.

As for the red hooks, I’m sure they will settle down once they are in the 8’ 300g, but I wouldn’t add anything to the tank that you will have to just get rid of after they have grown. I wonder if you added some large floating plants if that would give them cover and help them not freak out. Though silver dollars / red hooks all seem to be skittish.

Maybe you should add a pacu to the school. Haha. They aren’t shy and I’m sure they won’t outgrow the 90g for at least a month or two .
