My preference is for the WC. There’s a fellow on MFK with some gorgeous ones.I saw the 3 beautiful discus at aquarium paradise the other day and now I have a need to have some in my life at some point. I think I’d start with the more natural looking ones as they seem to be a lot cheaper.
I’d like to have 3 maybe 4 in my planted 75g.
Altum Angels are way more challenging than discus, and a 90g is way too small for Altum Angels; think a tank twice that size, minimum.Altum angel fish school

With your water change practice discus should be a cake walkI love the look of discus but the reputation of the amount of work required to keep them makes me leery to attempt it. I think I would attempt an Angel tank before Discus. I tend towards the easier fish to keep. @lloyd378, when you gonna refinance the home to go with those discus? lol
In my fishing adventures I've been stung by many a fish. It's not always the target species that require a rag or a glove, but instead it's the accidentally caught fish that aren't usually there(so occasionally my thick fluffy rag will not be present). I had a trip casting for salmon in a deeply channeled river entrance where I had no rag and we brought in a dozen or so sculpin, by the end of the trip it was a humorous game to see which of the two of us would unhook the little guys, then sooth the sting holding a nice cold beer. I do recommended the method.@John58Ford, not funny John (heavy sarcasm) It hurt for over an hour and every time I would wash my hands it would deactivate the venom. Their nickname is wasp catfish
I was able to get it moved during water changes.
How are the SA fishes doing with the hard water? Been a while since we got an update...Water changes on the 220 and 260. Moved the chocolates to the 260 and the Liberifer to the 220.
Im thinking that the little board in there that turns the motor on/off to purge is likely shot and thats why its having the issue. The new motor assy. would likely fix that issue but it is an expensive fix!The motor on one of my Fluval FX6 filters seems to have gone haywire- it only spins the impeller in irregular pulses. I cleaned everything and installed a new impeller, and that didn't solve the problem. Anyone seen anything like this before? A new motor is spendy- $160.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, as there are not many other possibilities. Ordered a new motor from Amazon this morning; it should be here later today. Fortunately the FX6 was on a lightly-stocked tank with adequate filtration even without the FX6.Im thinking that the little board in there that turns the motor on/off to purge is likely shot and thats why its having the issue. Interesting read on the FX4 having 'pulsing' technology:
Of course one of the solutions... replace the motorFluval Fx4 Motor Pulsing - Aquariumia
Fluval FX4 Motor Pulsing is a common issue that occurs when the motor of the Fluval FX4 Filter becomes stuck in an oscillating cycle. This results in aaquariumia.com
Ordered a new motor for my cranky FX6 from Amazon yesterday at ~10 a. m., and it arrived here at 6 p. m. It works fine, so clearly there was something funky going on in the original motor. It's odd, because I had never heard of such a thing, but obviously it happens.Yeah, that's what I was thinking, as there are not many other possibilities. Thanks for the info and the link.
Im glad that fixed it. Kind of a rare thing to have to replace the entire motor out. I havent had to do that yet, but mine have been running quite a few years without issue, so Im sure that Im due for something.Ordered a new motor for my cranky FX6 from Amazon yesterday at ~10 a. m., and it arrived here at 6 p. m.
