Wow, didn't realize it was that small.1 1/2” would be my guess. They had two at Wet Spot, the other was slightly bigger but this one was more active and ‘hairier’.

3 small krill and its belly was bulging! lolWow, didn't realize it was that small.
Looks like it might be covered in odontids on the caudal area. If it looks like fine hairs all over from the pectorals back it's a male. Males are more stream lined and females are more plump and no odontids.Made it home from a longer trip out of town, was glad to see my fish sitter got everyone fed a couple times. We cleared screens and filters and checked water levels, finally did some head counts. To my surprise our clown pleco came out to see what the activity was all about with all the whites on, he's(maybe she?) usually a twilight special.

Tomorrow I may have to do some cleaning in this tank, I stripped a ton of plants out a month back and the only things happy are the mosses and algaes. I may let it run natural though, usually everything levels out for me eventually.
This is a bit out of your wheelhouse, but if you wanted to try something completely different, I have small colony of these pretty fishes that I might let go to an experienced aquarist who could house and care for them properly. This short video shows that they do all the cool cichlid things- spawning displays, ritualized aggression, even an occasional skirmish- but they never really harm each other. Very cool fishes....Will be fun adding a few things too...
I'm following a thread on planet catfish of a hobbyist who is breeding hoplo.@fishguy1978 and I have talked about Hoplo cats and how cool they are. This is one possible new addition. I miss my old one and want another.
The bubble nest thing is pretty interestingI'm following a thread on planet catfish of a hobbyist who is breeding hoplo.
This is why I laugh at the ‘kids’ on MFK who think they will become millionaires from selling fry from their fish breeding. The harsh reality is that many places pay hardly anything even for rare fishes.I talked with the Cichlid Exchange today about bulk selling my batch of red dovii fry. They offered $2 a fish when COTA is selling them for $24 at the same size. Ouch.
Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and start shipping again even though it's a pain in the ass. For ~50 fish that's $100 vs. $1200. Worth it for the hassle of shipping. Though I won't be selling them for $24 a pop - more like $15.
It must have become dirty in the time between when I saw it this week and today. HahaGot home and was fed up with my dirty 300. Took a bit of time to scrub out the inside glass, cleaned algae along the gravel line and cleaned algae off plants. Much, much better now. Everything just looks fresh now. But what I consider a ‘dirty’ tank is probably ‘normal’ for most, lol.
Been having fun with the pearsei, hand feeding it every day now. Cant wait to get him into his permanent home in the 300.
Im a nut, lol. A healthy tank has algae but I love for the living room tank to look sparkling clean since people see that first when they walk in. I think this is another reason I go nuts about this tank is that my amphilophus LOVE TO DIG! I like a tidy looking tank where the fish does not mess with the aquascape. Hoping this pearsei is like my last one and wont dig and just watch tv when its on… I swear the fish would watch tv with us.It must have become dirty in the time between when I saw it this week and today. when I saw it, I thought, “ man, that’s a crazy clean tank for all of those large fish”! I think you’d flip out if you saw my 125 with my rtm pair…. All sides of glass minus the front are covered in algae!
