What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Came home and fed the pearsei a mix of Dainichi which seemed too large and it ground it up and spit out and some Northfin Tropical floating sticks which it didnt seem to care for either. Dropped in a few sinking NLS Algaemax mini wafers and it liked those. If only they made that product in that size in a floater.

So this Saturday we are going to Portland for some shopping with family. My hope is a stop at Wet Spot and possibly being able to bring something back with me. Really want to see if they have a hairy puffer in stock at the store and maybe get an albino hoplo cat (or two?). Problem is I need to move trimacs around to even make room for anything coming in... will try to see what I can accomplish after work today. I wanted to take in two of them to Aquarium Paradise but Dom is out of town till Monday so they were not taking anything in at the moment. I think Ive decided on keeping the two males with the teardrop markings and the other 4 will go including the female.

Might look at the driftwood branches at Wet Spot too but its kind of a tough situation since we are going down to Portland for another family member and not necessarily for me to stop in at Wet Spot. Will see how that goes.

Lots of big plans in the works. Leaning towards moving the Pearsei into the 300 but a little reluctant because this is one of the varieties that seem to be fairly colorless. It has an almost gray/green base to it, while my last one was pretty green. I know there are some catch location variants and ones referred to as 'red fin' and not sure what this one is but its really not very colorful. It may improve with diet and what not but we will see. It does have the great pearsei personality and I already am getting attached. With that move then the Petsmart devil will get rehomed and the true midas will likely get put into a 90 to itself. It is a bit of a runt already so it will be interesting to see if it grows anymore. Lots of plans in the works!

It's been a while since I posted in this thread, so I have some catching up to do...

A few days ago I traded out the Eheim 2217 canisters on my 75L show tank for a NOS Fluval FX5 that I was lucky enough to acquire from a Fishbox member (thanks @DMD123!). The FX5 just barely fit into the cabinet, as shown below, but it is working like a charm-

This tank was under-filtered for my colony of 20+ Tropheus sp. 'black' Ikola, but now it should be fine. The Eheim 2217's have been reassigned to two of the new 75's in the fish room, which also have two AC110's each.

Here's the 75L all buttoned up, just before a water change-

I've had this acrylic tank and canopy since 1987, but the rest of the setup comes from Fishbox members- the stand from @FishBeast, and the FX5 from @DMD123. Thanks again! Keep your eyes open for a post in the FS section in which I'll try to repay the collective good will. :)

Got home and put a divider in place on a 90

I would be concerned if it were big fish but these little 5" fish cant move it. Its zip tied to the center brace up top, magfloats on either side and goes all the way to the bottom of the tank with large rocks and driftwood holding it in place.

Well this is interesting… picked up the pearsei from @Madness on Monday give or take around 11am. It barely settles in and bam, a water change. In fact daily gravel vac and water changes. In no way should this fish be this easy going and comfortable. Tonight it gives me the feed me look so for fun I grab an Omega One Algae wafer hold it in the water and the big guy eats out of my hand! Did it again and ate another. Was pretty excited so I stopped before I overfed him, lol. Cant believe how friendly these guys are. Cant wait to get him in the big tank!

Morning water change in the 300 with my new drain pump and hose. Ive cut time with this but still takes 45 minutes from start to finish.

More water changes on both 90’s and 46g Bowfront in the garage. Used the feeding tongs on the little puffer and 3 little frozen krill had its belly bulging. Fed the rest of the krill to the trimacs. The pearsei was all excited during the water change thinking it was feeding time, lol. It now is super comfortable hand feeding and this is a regular thing with it.

If you got another 300, and did them both at the same time, simple arithmetic indicates that the total time would be about an hour, or about 30 minutes per tank. One solution to your problem... :whistle :whistle :whistle

lol, would love to… can you convince the boss? She would kill me if I added another tank. I might get away with it if I replaced the smaller garage tanks with a single larger one…

I know three 125s would fit into that display nicely
If I were to have done it all over again a 125 in the mix would have been nice. But Im pretty much done. I might be allowed to get something to replace the 30 if it fits in the same area… so maybe a 40 or possibly a 50 and that would be it.

Got home from 5 days in SoCal last night at 10…. All fish were great but they were hungry!

A strange thing that happened was neither puffer ate and of the Dovii culls while I was gone and the only Dovii that took damage were the ones I placed in my 220g with my jewel cichlids…… they looked like they started a war with them and the jewels obviously won!

I’ll get to some water changes sometime in the next few days as it’s been two weeks since their last one

It is so refreshing to step out into the garage and have a fish welcome me out there. The pearsei is a very outgoing, food centric fish that is so happy to see me. I know it has trained me now to reward this behavior with an algae wafer, lol.

Not that I was expecting this with the former trimac but did not expect it to be so scared of me. having a 8-9" fish freak out is pretty disturbing. It had to see me, I had to turn on light to enter otherwise it would dash around in fear. The current babies are much better but are still a bit skittish in nature. Hopefull I can grow a couple out that dont have these isssues.

Sold some plecos to Pet Works. Hairy puff is still there. They also have some gorgeous black calvus in the small, med and Lg sizes.
What are you going to do with all that space now that the pleco are gone? Raise out other fry? Did you pick up anything new from Pet Works??

They only took 10. Nothing new though the calvus were super tempting. I divided the G. Brasiliensis fry into 3 tanks and moved the Lg Rotkiel into a 29 by itself. Going on vacation soni need it some where it will be getting fresh water changes.

Busy afternoon in the fishroom. Finished plumbing the sump on the loach tank. Set up the sump and planted the plants in the refugium. Water changes on all tanks. And 200+ pictures.

Wish i could post videos without using YouTube. :(
