What did you do with your tank(s) today?

@sir_keith, Wow, good thing you had that!

I bought one a while back but still have not set it up on the 300. I had seen some advice about using a paper towel to act as a wick to the sensor so a larger area of coverage would be provided. For me this would help with the 8 foot stand and three FX6 filters inside.

Yes, these alarms have been great over the years. It's not so much the floor that I'm worried about, because I have a slate tile floor in my fish room, but several of my stands are made of particle board, and if they get wet, they're history.

I'd worry about the efficiency of the wick method as a means to cover an 8-foot enclosure. The alarms are not expensive; I often use two of them in 6-foot stands. :)

Tonight was my first night feeding the bichirs their raw tilapia with the pearsei in the tank. Sure enough his instincts kicked in and he didn’t go for the meat. This was a perfect match previously with my other pearsei and now this one too. This lets me feed without the worry of him overeating. Having a big herbivore in with the carnivore polys is a great mix!

I have to again share how much I appreciate not having a dug up tank in the living room, lol.

The pearsei is a very well behaved fish, a great tenant in the 300.

Today: water change on planted 75g living room tank, ran to AP for frozen krill and a sailfin pleco for the 75g and then visited withDMD as we ran into each other…..

besides that, I officiated my cousins wedding last weekend so I haven’t touched my tanks or fed my fish since Wednesday .

Thanks @lloyd378 for those clams on the half shell for the puffer. I fed him today and he was excited to see me place the clam in the tank and eagerly followed the tong down to the bottom, he then bit at the edge of the shell twice and swam away. I came back later and it was still there. I cut the meat out and then he ate it, lol. He hasn’t figured out the clams yet.

I have a beach full of clams at my place; stop by, and bring a bucket, if you're ever in the area. :)

Awesome, will have to take you up on that one of these days. I have a buddy out on Anderson Island who raises oysters. Because of covid he has not been able to keep up with them. This is because he hasnt had any oyster eating cookouts since the pandemic. He has threatened to load me up with some, but said dont feed them all to the puffer. Not sure how much he thinks that little thing eats, lol.

I have been cultivating oysters on my beach for several years; I estimate that I currently have about 2000 of them. Will be putting out this year's crop of oyster seeds in a few weeks. :)

Late afternoon harvest-

Fish keeping is kind of fun again with my interactive fish like the pearsei and hairy puffer. Still am working on rehoming some trimac to open up tank space for something else. Considering some things like maybe a red wolf fish or "bumblebee" oscar.

My current red Devil that came from the 300 is unhappy in the 90g and his hump has shrank a bit and not really eating, so Im working on him at the moment.

Cleaned the 46g bowfront along with its Aquaclear 110. The filter walls were covered in algae. Makes me think I need to actually cover the filter in contact paper or something to block out the light that feeds it from the window behind it. This tank seems to get dirtiest the fastest of all my tanks. Also cleaned one of the 90's.

Got a pic of my ugly little puffer

Yesterday I did a drain and fill on the 300 using my pump. Used the water in the flowerbeds so as not to waste it. The plants seem to love the fish poo!

I had a person contact me about my trimacs since I posted them on C-list but was not sure if he knew what he was looking for... will see if he gets back to me, lol.

I really want to rehome some fish to bring in something new but still a bit unsure exactly what. Been wanting a red wolf fish and they are said to be fairly inactive and would work in a 40B but after seeing the one @FishBeast had in a 75 gallon in makes me rethink this. They can get to be pretty big around and a good 10". I could see it working in my one 65B but then again seems a bit big for it but I dont want to use up a 90 for it. The 90 is still a mystery to me, another big cichlid if I rehome the red devil? Or a another community tank with something like a sev as the main fish and then get a smaller type pleco, hoplo cats and a big bigger tetra? Not sure on that one but will see as fish get rehomed.

Had a 40 breeder spring a small leak so I moved the lone red dovii over to another empty tank, drained it, cleaned it, and resealed the leaky side. Measured the lone remaining red dovii from the first spawn and it's a bit over 3.5". I have one in the 400 gallon that's got to be close to 5" but hasn't faded yet.

Also called Dom at Aquarium Paradise about dropping off some red dovii - he said to call back Tuesday as he's getting a bunch of fish this weekend.

Water change morning. Started with a couple garage tanks and then did the 300. I love the fact my 300 is not overstocked and how much cleaner it is. Having 4 big amphilophus in there was awesome but now with just the one medium pearsei its so much easier. Of course that will change as he gets bigger to his full 16” size!

Went to tropical fish world and pets today ( my son needed crickets and I wanted to browse a local fish shop I don’t get to often….

came home with some new fish for the 75g ( one only until it outgrows it).

I picked up a leopard sailfin pleco ( just a store name for the nicer patterned ones), and a red spot sev…..

sorry fishguy1978, I hope I didn’t make you jealous
