What did you do with your tank(s) today?

lol, that red sev was something I was considering doing in a garage 90.
You should!!!!! They are beautiful.

*** I was looking at their discuss which were the same size but double the price and decided on the heartier and more outgoing sev.

I’ll text you a quick video I took of the sev tank when I was up there

Went to tropical fish world and pets today ( my son needed crickets and I wanted to browse a local fish shop I don’t get to often….

came home with some new fish for the 75g ( one only until it outgrows it).

I picked up a leopard sailfin pleco ( just a store name for the nicer patterned ones), and a red spot sev…..

sorry fishguy1978, I hope I didn’t make you jealous

I'd be jealous if it were a male H. Notatus . Nice find though.

I did have to relocate my fire mouth out of my planted tank as it was becoming increasingly territorial to the other fish ( he was moved yesterday)…..

Got the video, great looking fish. I like the man made super reds a lot, but also the ones that they call the curare, tiger types.

I had a gold sev years ago and it ended up getting rehomed because it picked on the pearsei... Boy the list of fish that were rehomed because of that pearsei is pretty extensive. Quite a few were lookers too. That regani that I got from you was a beast when I rehomed him, very rare to see one at 13" with a nuchal hump.

Oh well, I kept my favorite and just decided to just let mine be in the 300 with balas and bichir as tankmates so no issues

This one has been with you quite a while now? I seem to remember you having this for a few years now?

Actually, it’s fairly new ( spring time). I bought it at the tail end of the 75g planted tank crash when I was losing fish daily…

he was my experiment to see if my water was really all that bad ( figured a cichlid is stronger than tetras). Well he’s about 2” now with great colors but I noticed him running most of the fish away from the right side of my 75g so I had to move him

@lloyd378 did the fish store have anything that would peak my interest? :)
Not that I can think of…..

things I saw that I liked:
Discuss
Tiger shovel nose
Fire eel
Black ghost knives
Electric blue acara ( large sized)
A couple of amphs ( didn’t ask about them but resembled a RD when young)
Red iridescent rainbows
Silver arrowana

the only fish I saw and thought how unfortunate were: glow fish and then the convict looking blood parrots

Had to run an errand around noon today so it took me by Aquarium Paradise.... stopped in and tanks were full, so I dont see how I can bring my trimacs in unless they sell some fish in a major way to make space. I wonder if anyone will ever buy that electric catfish they have, lol

Water changes like always lol. Finally ended up putting all devil's in one tank, all vieja in another tank, ( plus 2 Grammodes and 1 delhezi) :)
Time for myself to start moving some of these midas. Finished the sump on the loach tank and now it is looking quite nice and active.

Another person contacted me about my trimacs... It will be interesting to see if my C-list person gets back with me about them. Would be great to get them gone this week but its hit or miss sometimes with on-line selling.

Decided to pull the trigger and order some Hikari Cichlid Excel medium floating pellets for the Pearsei. With tons of research looking for floating foods that were designed for herbivores, this was really the only thing I could find out there. Hikari has a long history but seems in recent years kind of has fallen into the 'cheap food' category. Not as respect as it once was. The NLS Algaemax mini wafer are a huge hit but hard to feed compared to dropping in the floating. So wish NLS would consider making other floating formulas. Same with Omega One, the small floating Veggie pellets are outstanding but I wished they made that in a medium floating also.

I have been on vacation for the last 3 weeks back in Virginia visiting my brother and family. We had a house sitter who was feeding the fish and animals. Unfortunately, the Rotkeil sev died and was not immediately removed from the tank that it was in, unsure how long but have a picture that was texted and it was definitely rotting. I had moved it into a 29g that was on the upper rack and it drained into the L104 tank which also had some G. Brasiliensis grow outs. The entire contents of that lower 29g were also lost. Thankfully, the young lady's dad is tech savey and turned off the flow to the upper 29 and then re-adjusted flow to the rest of the system. I will find out later today after work if there were any other losses. 2am arrival at home didn't allow for much more than a quick check of the L104s. QQ

Sorry to hear about that. The only times I've ever felt totally comfortable leaving my fish room in someone else's care was when I had a fish-savvy friend (who worked at the Fish Store in Bellevue) house-sit for me. Otherwise, it's always a risk, and obviously a bigger one when the tanks are interconnected. I do hope those were your only losses. Your house-sitter must be feeling pretty bad as well. :(

She did. Not her fault, thankfully.

@fishguy1978, wow, so sad to hear that. Its tough to be away from the tanks. Since setting up seven tanks I have not taken a long vacation, just some little day excursions. I always worry what I would come back to in the past when I took longer trips.

Two to three weeks without feeding is nothing for most fish. Keeps the tanks from getting as filthy since no water changes happen when I'm gone.

I tell anyone watching our place to not touch a thing on the tanks. So much better to underfeed rather than over feeding.

The couple times I had someone feed (when I had fry) I portioned out the food ahead of time into one of those weekly pill containers so the person just had to dump in a pre measured amount.

All true. I also pre-portion the food unless my house-sitter is fish savvy. And only have feedings every 3 days.
