What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Saw some cute little pea puffers at Aquarium Paradise and wondered if I had an unused tank somewhere that would be appropriate. Never had one before and know absolutely nothing about them.
Murder beans are like a box of chocolates. Each ones a different personality. They do best on snails, BS, blood/black worms or mosquito larvae. I have seen them take pellets but they don't always eat them. Need lots of cover so a heavy ppl wanted tank is best. Males will have a yellow belly with an olive colored stripe down the middle and will lose there defined spots where the female has a white belly and retains the spotting.

I got to meet @Betty and was gifted a nice mix of bamboo for pleco caves. I cut to length and have added some to several tanks already. It will take awhile to sink. I also took the opportunity to cut up some oak for future caves. This was cut this year so it's going to be a long time drying.

Busy weekend planned in the yard getting prepped for a new wood fence going in. Hopefully still leaves time for some tanks. Usually Saturday morning is my water change time but supposed to meet up with @sir_keith for some aquarium stuff. Might still be able to squeeze some tank time in there.

Have two trimac to sell but hate putting these on Craigslist since its so hit and miss on these folks. Seems like us fish forum people do much better at keeping our appointments, lol. Thats usually why my preference is to sell on the Fishbox first.

Been cleaning out unused aquarium stuff to make room in my garage. Its amazing how much you accumulate over the years in this hobby. Still a few items to sell off but much more manageable.

Got home and noticed my big Petsmart devil acting a bit “off”. Didnt do the feed me dance or even eat. Started looking at him and it looks like a large red ‘bruise’ on each side and his nuchal hump looks a bit shrunken. None of the other fish mess with him, they completely ignored him like usual since he is the tank boss. Did a gravel vac/water change on the tank and Im watching him closely. Hopefully he heals up and is his old self again.

The female trimac figured out how to kill Buenos Aires tetras… found one stuck on the Aquaclear intake. Was thinking they would be a durable dither since they were pretty large but out of the 10 I got, Im down to 1 now. Might be better to try a target fish like a convict instead.

Bruised spots on the devil look more red today. He is swimming around but not interactive. Does not seem to have damaged swim bladder. The other fish are not challenging his dominant position so if he is left alone, I think he should heal. I have some driftwood he may have hurt himself on but super odd that bruised spots are on both sides.

Just finished my water changes on all six garage tanks.

Settling in with some coffee now. Waiting to meet up with @sir_keith to pick up an FX5 filter from me. Look forward to meeting him and have another experienced fish guy to look at my devil and get his advice.

Nice to have met you @sir_keith, thanks for coming by and picking up the filter. Love the hobby when two guys who raise completely different species can come together and shoot the breeze for an hour with ease. If world leaders were fish keepers and came together…there would be world peace, lol.

Traded a 20g hex with stand and AC20 filter to a dovii breeder for 3 sev's. 4-5in Liberifer, 4-5in male turquoise and a 2in ish Green.
Chocoholic isn't to keen on the addition so he might be moving to the 220g
I moved the H.N. back to the 220g and the Green and Turquoise into the 220g.

And nice to have met you @DMD123. The 'used' FX5 seems not to be 'used' at all, just sitting in a box all its life, in perfect condition, with spare parts! I'm really happy to have this filter and will put it to good use!

Also nice to see your legendary 300 (awesome!) and garage rack. Seeing these things online is fun, but obviously it's way better in person. And so is meeting up. I hope that the Fishbox community can get together in person more often now that the pandemic is under control in our area.

Thanks again! :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Rooting around in the garage freezer and SCORE! Found a unopened bag of frozen bloodworms, so fish got a treat today. Maybe I should root around in my winter coats and see if I find money in the pockets, lol.

These look like superficial (as in surface layer) wounds to me. I would expect them to heal just fine unless they become infected. Are you sure those torpedo-like fishes lurking on the bottom didn't do this? It would be weird for a cichlid altercation to not have some lingering behavioral effects, and I didn't see any evidence of that yesterday. Odd.

The bichirs are harmless to things that are large and alive. They would likely feed on dead fish but they never have attacked anything big. Plus its odd that the injury is on both sides.

Well the side that looked less bruised darkened up as the day progressed. I think the damage is deep. I saw something that disturbed me, making me think the fish might not make it. It appeared as if it were bleeding, just slight but I swore I saw a little red come from the wound. The lights went out and hopefully it can rest throughout the night and we will see what tomorrow brings.

Im thinking the only thing it could have hurt itself on that badly is a Mopani piece that has two pointed branches on it. While not sharp they do have points and these are big bodied fish. This piece of Mopani may be coming out tomorrow.

Big guy was still alive this morning. Appears to look strong but not really swimming around much. Sitting in back corner of the tank a lot. This is a super deep wound, so I really dont know what to do except clean water. It does not appear infected or anything so Im just letting him be.
