What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Stopped by Aquarium Paradise and talked with them about taking in my puffer, RTM and Rhino pleco. Need to check back with them Saturday, after this weeks fish order comes in. I only saw one open tank to even put the puffer, let alone a 5” female RTM… pleco was actually not a problem.

Got home and pulled out driftwood pieces out of tanks that I considered a bit small and the did some water changes on two 65B and one 90 gallon. Finished up early in the fishroom and the threw burgers on the grill and relaxed.

If you truly want to move the arrowhead, let me know. I’d have some interest and a 48x15x19” tank for him….
It is my old fahaka tank, he is headed to a 75 g and he’s grown a bunch lately.

I’m moving my fahaka this weekend( I need to rehome a male blackbelt cichlid first

Any takers?

I texted you about the puffer. Will include the sand from its tank in sale since it likes to dig into the soft substrate.

Had to laugh a bit at the order I placed for my new substrate. I ordered a 50lb bag of it from Chewy.com for $47.99 and added a small can of food to get free shipping at $49. Most places would have charged additional shipping cost for the 'heavy weight', but not them. Not very many places where you can buy substrate online and not pay the additional shipping now a days.

Says it was shipped, if its here by Saturday then I will redo my 65B this weekend.

Got my tracking confirmation and sadly it will be on Monday June 14th when my substrate comes in. But I hope the Fed Ex driver is not mad having a 50lb box to deal with, lol.

Screwed up. I forgot to put the air stone back into the black worms and boy did they smell of death. Hopefully there are some survivors.

I was chatting with someone at marineandreef.com today, and she told me that Hydor has been bought by another company, and has totally liquidated their inventory, so if you need any spare parts, you'd better hurry. It was her opinion that we may not see any Hydor products back on the market for a year or more. Not my favourite brand anyway, so no big loss.

However, she also told me that Eheim is no longer selling in the US, and that definitely is one of my favourite brands. I have quite a few 2217 canister filters, so I stocked up on filter pads and spare impellers. Now if I could just find a used Fluval FX-4 or FX-6 for sale...

Some of the Hydor stuff was interesting like their in-line heaters. I had used a set on my 210g set up years ago. Those heaters just ran and ran. Then they made some changes... the new ones were dying in about 8-9 months. Had replaced one under warranty and then the warrantied one died soon afterwards. Thats when I stopped buying their in-line heaters. Funny thing was the older ones were still working fine. I really wish someone would make an in-line heater for use with FX5/6 filters. Ive been thinking of doing a custom plumb one to get the look of the stupid heaters out of the tank.

Two Aquaclear 110’s cleaned out this morning along with gravel vac/water changes on two 90’s in the garage. Looking to remove sand from 30g and 65B tanks in prep of new substrate coming in.

Bought 2 tank dividers a couple days ago from Petco. Decided once puffer is rehomed that Im splitting it into 3 sections and then moving trimacs in to heal and sell. The aggression is a bit better with the female out but these guys are still pretty nasty towards each other compared to my other amphs.

The bike is my primary, year round commuter.
Ah, to be young again...

This was my daily driver for ~30 years, including 10 years in LA when I was commuting 40+ miles per day on the infamous Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) between Santa Monica and the USC Medical Campus-

Here she is, brand-new on delivery day- June 13, 1975. That night I went to a Rolling Stones concert in the Boston Garden; pretty good day, one might say. o_O

Got the loach tank up and half filled yesterday. The tank is currently running only on a sponge filter until i am done plumbing and get the sump installed. Water is a bit cloudy but by morning it all should be cleared. I have 10 more arriving Tuesday, the Syncrossus Berdmorei. As well as to wild festae, and 6 plecos. :) 20210612_185954.jpg

Spent morning water changing the 300, and then running to store for silicone… dealing with a pinhole leak in my UV. The little viewing window started leaking. Looks like I can just silicone the inside and it should be fine for a bit. Will shop for a replacement though.

Swapped out the CPR reef sump for the new to me Aquaclear sump. Cut out the built in skimmer and glued acrylic over the holes I had drilled. I may cut a spillway between what will be fry grow out section and the pump section.

Glad I did the union valves to be able to remove it easily and keep filter running.

Doing some clean up and posted some free stuff in the for sale section.
