What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Bad day... was draining tank into tub and the tub started to back up. Paid $500 for a drain guy to come out and clean it and find the problem. Turns out our drain pipe is cracked/crushed. So bad day! The good part of it all is that the camera down the drain found the problem, all in our favor. The gas company recently replaced our meter and ran the gas pipe through the drain. So we will get reimbursed for the plumber and they are coming out tomorrow to replace the pipe.

Got a pic of it

Went to Petworks in Olympia this morning looking for another sizable piece of Mopani for the 300. I found a piece I liked but I think I might use it for my puffer instead. His driftwood cave is hanging on by a thread. It is Malaysian driftwood which is considerably softer in nature. The piece of Mopani will require a little cutting and drilling to get the cave part to open up.

Anymore large pieces like this? I need to pay this place a visit.

Seems they only have one “jumbo” piece in at a time. The rest was all smaller stuff. The have spiderwood too but mostly small pieces and a bit pricey at $20 per half pound.

The gas company was out at 7am this morning to fix the drain! The spot where they broke with the gas line.

You can see by the angle that the gas line went into the drain.

We should be up and running soon.

Just thought I would share this. I recently got a weird batch of Omega One Large Sinking Cichlid pellets that I bought from Petco a little while back. The stuff looked normal when first opened but as I got halfway through I noticed a change in the pellets. They lacked the normal color and they seemed wrong. Almost as if not fully dry, not wet per say but off.

If you are familiar with this product you know its normally red looking.

I contacted Omega One via their website, sent pics and provided the date on the bottom of the can. They were quick to respond and sent me out a new can of food which I received today. Just thought I would share my story.

Very happy with the customer service from Omega One!

Ive been stocking up on fish foods. Not hoarding but making sure I have food on hand just in case. Also trying a few new items, and retrying items I had used in the past.

One of those foods I started to reuse was Dainichi. Not sure if I will continue since they are so hard to order from. I used to order direct, then the website closed down. Then a found an online vendor which no longer carries the product line. Then it started to become available on Amazon but shipped directly from Dainichi... well thats stopped on the product I was using. Noticed changes on their website, so hope is that it will be available again. Hard for a little boutique fish food company to compete with bigger companies?

That’s great! They always seemed like a good, family owned operation. I recently saw their profile video on Amazon, very impressed. Glad their customer service is up to par!

That’s too bad! Have not tried them. I’ve essentially switched to YourFishStuff foods, they are a smaller company too and I’m worried about how COVID will impact them.
