Water changes this morning

As I watch these fish swimming around and active, it mades me think of how most times Ive seen these in the store they look so lifeless and at death’s door. They really dont require that much to be healthy, outgoing fish. Sadly many treat these as beginner, second class fish.

Any fish under your care will thrive given your meticulous fishkeeping habits

So my weekend was spent very deeply involved in hobby related stuff with water changes and visiting 4 different stores that required quite a bit of driving. I didnt buy a single fish because Im in a bit of a transition period with stock getting moved (silver dollars), new aquascaping (90g) and some rethinking other fishes. At some point I feel as if three red spot sevs is too much for my 90g. Though these ones seem a bit smaller, I have seen how large these can get as adults. I also love my little EBJD but the slowest growing fish in the world. When I redo my 90g I may actually keep it in the 46g bowfront for a bit, and then decide to move it into the 90g with a solo sev. The EBJD was a total spur of the moment purchase and now Im uncertain as to its future home. So a lot of stuff coming up for me with stock movement and change.

Anyone else going through any stock changes?

About 5 am watched Crawley release eggs as she swam back and forth at the front of the tank. Somebody ate them before the tank light came on at 8 am, tho!

Ended up doing a small water change because I accidentally dumped too much dinner in which somehow terrorized my normally brave Parona into hiding for almost an hour. Sai also, but he's kind of a chicken so that's normal for him, and he came out after 15 minutes. Argh, argh, argh.
On the other hand, all the rasboras were pretty chill, and Crawley just hung out in her house.

Oscars Rule - that's a pretty neat looking pleco! I love marbled green things.

I've been concentrating on expanding some of my existing colonies of hard-to-find Tanganyikans over the last year or so, and am now at the point when I'm going to need to do some serious rearranging in order to make room for all the little ones who are now officially juveniles. Including these-

Tropheus annectens. Very unusual and interesting Tropheus that are rarely seen in the hobby; my colony is now 3x the size it was a year ago, so very happy to keep this colony going. The males resemble Simochromis, thus the name.

Tropheus sp. 'black' Ikola. A perennial favorite, for obvious reasons. Again, this colony has increased 2-3 fold.

Enantiopus melanogenys. A lek breeder, and one of the most interesting fishes that I have ever kept-

Cyprichromis sp. 'Tricolor' Black Bee- Another really interesting Tanganyikan; its territory is a 3-dimensional space in the open water column; not easy to do for a mouth-brooder-

This whole breeding Bettas thing started by the kiddo is resulting in me taking down and moving around some Endler colonies. Not keeping black bars or variations of black bar to concentrate on the wild type guppy x white peacock cross and orange line wild types. My purple body x French blue cross gave me the females I wanted so I put them where they are needed for the future.

In place of the black bars and purple bodies I have female Bettas and a male developing up. Need this weather to settle so I can purge the mutt tank outside and do the annual save the strongest / most cold hardy fish to repeat next year lol

Goldfish babies in the old blonde Endlers tank :)

I did a quick gravel vac and water change this morning on the goldfish tank. I overfed yesterday on the pellet foods and the water was messy looking. No food to gravel vac up but it must have sat a while as they grazed on it because the water was just a little cloudy looking. Its tough to not feed these guys since they are so outgoing, lol. But for now I need to be light handed, better to feed multiple small feedings and keep water clear.
