What did you do with your tank(s) today?

I've done lots of cruising in South Sound over the years; love to do that after Labor Day, when it's pretty much deserted, even Jarrel Cove. :thumbsup
My dad lives down the beach from jerrols cove. Well, maybe like a mile or two drive, but still. It’s a great little state park.

How’d you get that back on your bike???
I wish I would have been on the bike. We are doing an epoxy floor coating in the basement and it was cheaper to drive over to Pasco to pick it up than for shipping. It was also nice to be in a car with AC as it was 105F over there.

Geez, the heat wave seems to have killed the FishBox. As an attempt at rejuvenation, I'll say that today I am changing water and cleaning filters in my fish room, which just happens to be the coolest room in the house.

lol, I know I try to keep movement down to a minimum in the house on these hot days. We have heat pump and it keeps the house cool but the tanks make it a bit warmer than I would like. So I end up waiting till the early morning hours on the weekends to do my water changes. I know Im due to wash out my FX6's on the 300 and all the ACA110's in the garage too. Maybe a few this weekend...

Buffed out some scratches on the 260g and a scuff mark on the 60g. Started with 800, then 1000 and finished with Novus 3. With the novus I used full strength and then added some water to what I had on a piece of poly fill and the haze went away. 3C20794A-C368-4AF9-B2FD-34F201F68AF5.jpeg

Water change morning before the heat set in. Used the waste water on plants and the lawn.

Got my new Fluval T300 heater… will wait till temps to go down and install it in one of the 65B to replace the failing Aquarium Masters brand heaters. Hopefully these hold up better.

How is everyone holding up with the heat?

Thankfully we have a heat pump and it was cooler than outside but anytime we are up over 95 it does struggle. Its said that at those times if you are 10 degree cooler than outside it is still working within specs. I think we peaked at 77 in the house yesterday, so we did okay. Today I am getting the temp down to 67 in the morning and hopefully can keep the temp from rising too much in the morning and see if we can keep it around 75 today. Will see if the experiment works.

For us the worst thing is that we have no shade. I have planted trees but they really dont help since the way the afternoon sun hits, throws all the shade the wrong way. If I can get a shade tree planted in one spot by our patio, it would make a world of difference. Still looking for the right tree for that spot.

Hope everyone is staying cool and being safe!

Have way more energy today than yesterday…. Woke up with a cough and had zero energy took the test it was positive for Covid. We have AC so the house got up to about 73 yesterday but I slept most of the day. Today I’m running at about 70-80 percent normal energy levels and the cough is way less. So far, knock on wood, the family we spent the Wednesday - Saturday with has had zero positive results and that also goes for my wife and kids.

On a positive note, I’ve got my eye on a new eel tailed catfish . There is a guy selling them up in bothel and when I’m not longer contagious I’m going to go buy one from him.

I am also thinking about tearing down my 125g, but that would leave me needing tank space for my female festae and my two 14” ornate bichirs

Just placed order for a few more Universal Rocks products. A couple more rocks to be specific. Ive loved the look of these things in my 300 but the biggest one just makes it difficult to have the large fish maneuver around. I believe its said to be 15” but with the irregular shape just seems really tight in the tank. I decided to get a few smaller ones instead. They say there is a material shortage and could be up to four weeks… hopefully not but will see. Will post after the rocks come in and show off new aquascape.

Wow, I just placed my Universal Rocks order last night and I got a Fed Ex shipping confirmation already. I guess the ones I ordered were all ready to go! Awesome, looking forward to a tank re-scape.

My Universal Rocks order came in early. I think the large piece will fit better in the tank and give more swim room around it especially if I get another big cichlid in the 300.
