What did you do with your tank(s) today?

You have some nice filters there!

What are you currently keeping as I believe you recently got rid of some fish if memory serves me right.
All the same pets…Umbee pair, Dovii pair, (4) grow out tanks for their fry. A community tank [severums, blood parrot, fire eel & festae] and a fahaka. I’m still supposed to be downsizing if my wife ever asks! Lol.

Worked on things that effected the fishroom a little bit. I patched a hole on the outside wall and interior wall where the old tankless water heater vented out the back wall of the house. Outside done and painted, inside has first coat of mud. Still need a light fish coat, then sand and paint. Just another chore out of the way

Can back from a weekend at the beach to find my fire eel dead…. No signs of struggle, just loss of color and floating in a fake plant.

He was in my bedroom 75g with my Lima shovel nose, 3 rainbow cichlids and my sailfin pleco ( I did recently move out my two Oscar’s but I don’t think eels get attached to other fish. Haha

His total length was 13.5”

Sorry for the loss of the fire eel @lloyd378. They are such cool fish, sad you didn’t get to see it fully grown. I remember visiting the one the Wet Spot had, must have been 3 ft long. You going to attempt another?

We shall see. I spent a pretty penny on mine and not sure I want a eel that only eats frozen krill and frozen blood worms. Haha

AP had a Black wolf fish when I was in there.
Yeah I saw it too. They are pretty cool fish. @lloyd378 and I both have the red wolf (erythrinus erythrinus) and they are are awesome when they are active and feeding but the rest of the time if they have a good hide, its watching an empty tank, lol. Im tempted to redo the aquascape on my 65B wolf tank so I can see it more. Thinking more of a tangle of roots for it to hide in, maybe a big spiderwood piece.

I’ve been thinking about adding mine to my 220 cichlid tank so then maybe I’ll see it more. The only problem would be trying to stop all of my cichlids from eating the krill before it would get any. Haha

I looked up black wolf fish before and I think I actually like their look better than my red wolf fish

My red wolf was a lot more outgoing until I added the bn pleco... no idea as to why it changed behavior. It now hangs out in the hollow log all the time. It will pop out for food but otherwise it hides. It used to sit out by the large driftwood and watch the garage for activity and it never spooked or anything. If I moved it to my 300 then there is not any caves for it to hide in but it could hide behind the large fake rock and I would at least see it a little compared to now. Might be time for an aquascape on the red wolf tank or to move him along with my oscar....

Prime day deal was this HITOP heater for $31.11, I bought one to try out.

Going to try it out in my 90 gallon Trimac tank to replace one that has a failing digital display. Will see if this one does any better.

@lloyd378 have you experienced any unexplained casualties or disappearances in that community tank set up with the red wolf in there? Ive heard they can be all over the board with tankmates. In fact I remember a guy on MFK had his wolf in a pretty large tank (300g 8ft x 36" footprint) but a hide was disputed with a nice big jaguar catfish and it took a big bite out of its stomach. Thankfully the wound healed but that little wolf was just a jerk of a fish. It was being kept with large bichirs which it had no issues with and a couple big, mild cichlids and again no issue.

My wolf ate a small wild caught Oscar when I first got it and then a couple of small tetras and small tiger barbs, but now he leaves all current tank mates alone and even lays next two the two four-lined catfish under the log.

Installed my new replacement heater for my trimacs 90 gallon tank. Its kind of compact but wide. I love the digital readout and simple in line controls. Dont have to reach into the water to change temp! Will see how this ones does.18621F94-2559-48A8-9BA6-CEC3616E4121.jpeg

Water changes with some light gravel vac this morning on my garage tanks.

Bought some YFS algae wafers a while back and just started using on the plecos. They seem to really go at them. Haven’t seen acceptance yet by my trimac that loves omega One veggie rounds and generally my Oscar too. But maybe I should try during the daytime and see if they go for them too.

While vacationing in coeur d’ Alene , yesterday we found some time to check out a local pet store named Duncan’s . It was a throwback store that had a nice selection of community fish, some small CA cichlids and an abundance of rather large 6+ inch OB peacock African cichlids. The fish all looked healthy, but our attention quickly diverted to a beautiful white cockatoo. He didn’t talk to us, but did want some head scratches.

We got home today after five days in Idaho and to my surprise, the rainbow cichlids bred in my bedroom tank. No action from the bristlenose plecos though. I will add that all fish were begging to be fed once we got home! It’s nice to feel wanted. Haha

Did a water change this morning on the living room 75g. Found one of my sterbai cory cats dead in the tank. I’m not sure how long they live, but I’ve had them for about 5 years and they were adult sized when I got them. I’m down to two now, so I will need to find some more to add to the school
