What did you do with your tank(s) today?

One of my fishes favorite are the Omega One ‘veggie rounds’ which are near impossible to find in larger containers of 4 to 8 oz. I have only seen the overpriced 2 oz container. I ha purchased YFS algae wafers but not as readily taken by my cichlids. I use a pretty big mix of foods but Omega One foods are one of the normal staples I feed.

Have you tried Sera? Screenshot_20220821-084054_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20220821-084046_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20220821-084628_Chrome.jpg

Ive used those SERA tablets before. Not super impressed, they started to break down quite rapidly and the fish didnt take to them. One of those foods that they just didnt care for.

I agree…. I bought the bottom feeder pellets and they break down similar to Alka-Seltzer, haha

By the time it reaches the gravel, 1/4 of it has dissolved and is floating in the water column.

I do still really like the XXL Dr. Bassler’s foods ( which when compared to any other brand is a medium to medium small pellet).

Today I cleaned my bedroom tank again…. As mentioned above, I tried the sera pellets last week and am still trying to get the silt off of my substrate and plants…. Third water change in the last week and a half.

I also moved my smaller male BN pleco to my bedroom tank as the sailfin that was in there is now at madness’ fish room cleaning up his wood and pooping excessively. Haha

Good to know the feedback on the Sera brand. I have only used the red pellet and green pellet as a combination they were free from Swiss Tropicals when I ordered a bunch of foam, he through them with it. No complaints with the pellets, thought I might try some of the other products. Looks like I'll be staying away from the veggie tablets. Haha

I've been out in the fish room for the last couple of weekends trying to get the 600 up and going with some residence. Today I began mixing my substrate and doing some aquascaping. It definitely turned the water a tad bit on the Milky side even after rinsing quite well. No worries a day's worth of cycling through the sump will clear it up nicely. Still a few more items to add and then I think it'll be ready.20220820_183058.jpg20220821_173045.jpg20220821_192054.jpg

Fishroom cleaning today, actually the past three days. Been very fed up with how grungy they were looking. All six tanks got glass cleaned, gravel vac’d and large water changes. I also cleaned four AC110’s and a pre-filter. Plastic plants dipped in bleach solution to remove all algae. They are now the way I like to see them!

Stopped in at Wet Spot today, guess what followed me home? A cleaning brush! Isnt that exciting? lol, yep that is all I ended up getting.

They had a tank full of some really cool looking pike cichlids, a nice looking endli bichir, a really interesting patterned oscar (likely a wild caught, didnt see name tag on tank for it). Was super tempted to get a pleco or two, one was a leopard frog that would be great in my 46 bowfront and the other was a very expensive Titanic, a $200 pleco!

Love coming back from a trip and seeing the fish happy to see me and hungry, lol. I was so tempted to bring back a fancy pleco from WetSpot but got other things going on right now so maybe in a couple months if I make some room in the tanks.

As we were driving back home from Lincoln City in Oregon I decided to look online to see if any Petco had my fish food in stock. Turned out one in Salem did and I bought them out. So a big bonus being able to find the fish food that has been out of stock pretty much everywhere else.F3AE167A-E89A-4089-9765-CDCD64BA51AE.jpeg

They have that stuff in stock at the Petco in Poulsbo. Pretty pricey when you buy these little canisters.
