What did you do with your tank(s) today?

I foolishly placed 2 Severums in a tank with my 3 juvenile black nasty’s (w/o quarantining first) …now two of them are lethargic and have stringy white poop! Smh …had to treat the whole tank.
That sucks, I’m sorry!

Been a quiet couple days in fish keeping. Nothing that interesting going on. Well a few things… the first is my puffer has been making huge messes of his foods. He will take foods and chew them up, spit them out and just making a huge mess. Kind of a new thing its been doing. Ive tried a few different foods and he is doing it with everything. Eats about 10 percent of the food and grinds and spreads the rest around everywhere.

The second interesting thing is my little wolf is settling in nicely and has been interacting and eating well. Likes the clams, krill and silversides along with earth worms. Would love to get it on pellets… I think I might try some tilapia with some pellets hidden in the meat and maybe it might get a taste of the food. Will try that soon.

Sad news. I had to suddenly leave my house last week Thursday to go back to my family in Duvall and didn't get back until today. This unfortunately means most of my rainbow cichlid fry died off/were eaten. About 250 in total are gone with maybe 4 or 5 still hanging on. I'm not sure if they starved or if the parents got a little hungry as I cannot find a single corpse in the tank. Bummer but I'm confident that they'll spawn again. Life happens.

That's one cool dude. Gotta get me one. I heard aquarium coop gets them in now strangely enough. With the huge expansion they're doing maybe they'll start carrying more oddball stuff, bigger species.
Thanks, he is getting to be a fun little fish. I got this one from PetWorks in Olympia. WetSpot gets them in seasonally too.

Just had to do a mid-week water change on the hairy puffer tank this week. After 3 days of his chew it all up and spit out feedings the tank bottom was covered in krill, silverside and clams. I totally skipped feed today and will see if that makes him more inclined to eat the food outright as opposed to making these huge messes. This behavior does not make any sense, in nature fish generally take the opportunity to eat foods they like because another feeding opportunity may not arise anytime soon. This little guy just is a little mess maker lately

My Universal Rocks order came in and they forgot one plant but got my extra rock I ordered the next day in there, lol. I emailed them, will see how good they are about customer service now.

Universal Rocks responded back to me, so excellent customer service! They are out of stock on the one I ordered but are making another that I think I like more that they will ship out. These are nice large plants that will make a impact in a tank for sure. The one grass like plant with the reddish brown not my favorite but I will use in one of the garage tanks. The other with the curled tips looks really good and I want to put that one in the 300 along with the replacement plant they are to send out.

Did you figure out how they make them so light? 15 gallons of displacement would weigh more than 125 lbs to sink. Do the water holes look like they would allow circulation or would they keep stagnant water inside?

Basically think of it as a hollow bowl turned upside down. The bottom is completely open. So there is no flow and water would get stagnant in there. I clean my tanks frequently so Im not too overly concerned.

I wouldn't really be concerned either unless one of the big guys could tip it and let out some nasty, I have been thinking of trying to build some stuff for my tanks I don't need to glue down. Can't wait to see it in there as it's a very sharp focal point going in such a clean lined monster tank.
