What did you do with your tank(s) today?

I guess it's time to trim. Finally. I started actually trying to get these tanks balanced again as fall was setting in a couple months ago.

The center lily has pretty much choked out the center sword that used to be this tanks focal point so I suppose some adjustments need to be made. 3/4 of these are going in different tanks soon if they can just hang in there. Here's a different angle rarely seen if this tank:

Then there's this one

One of @DMD123's former anubias hastifolia is hiding out in here, it's the one that had a solid root system already:

One of the old small leaves was folded in transport but the snails have made sure it doesn't cause rot. There are new leaves growing on both specimens as they are adapting to their new environment, I do expect to lose a leaf or two while they acclimate, hopefully I have the right amount of light. Here's why it's so dark in there:

To be continued later, I don't know if I'll get it all trimmed on my lunch break but I'm going to try.

Hey! They crypts I got from you a while back are doing so well that I'd like to get some more. They are really beautiful. So if you have any extra crypts or Anubias from this little exercise please let me know! :thumbsup

My little wolf is starting to open up. Eats clams, krill and earth worms pretty readily and seems like it watches me to see if Im coming toward the tank to feed. Im going to get it to recognize me as the feeder and try to give it a lot of different types of meaty foods to get it eating well and then attempt to pellet feed again soon.

Yesterday my two new Finnex Titanium heaters came in for the 300. The heating elements are a bit smaller than the huge Eheim 250 watt unit and just a bit bigger than the Fluval E series. Will be nice to have two matching heaters in there. Plus it appears as if these do not have a light inside the tank. The Eheim is just a red/green dot but the fluval is a digital readout. I think it will add to the realism of the tank to get the extra electronic look out of the tank. Also the wattage is closer to what it needs to be. My current heaters are a 300 and 250 watt but the new ones are both 500 watt.

Getting ready for the big water heater install on Friday. Likely will do some water changes tonight and tomorrow and then have to move stuff around in the garage to give them working room to install the new unit.

Came home to a baby Oscar that died in my community tank….

he was begging for food and chasing my finger this morning and floating this afternoon. Another mystery for my planted tank that I can’t explain.

May tetras, angel fish, bosmani rainbow, and my tiger barbs are all still great.

same with the plecos, Cory cats, and bumblebees

Cleaned up a corner of the 300 and installed one of my new heaters. Only bad thing is that the heater needs to be installed horizontally. But it is smaller than the Eheim with the heater guard.

Tomorrow is new water heater day so I did a few water changes today. If I wake up early I may be able to clean up and install the second aquarium heater or just wait till Saturday after the new water heater is in place.

Did you get the ones with the external controller/external temp sensors(TH series) or the ones with the wired in-line controller/internal sensor(hmc, hma, hmx series)?

I use a different brand with internal sensor/inline controller and didn't have much luck running it horizontal. If they're internal sensor units and they work well horizontal for you I may have to switch things up.

These are the internal type. I didn't want the extra sensor and cord. Kind of wish I had went with the other now. Not sure if I like the horizontal heater look.

The new heater temp reading and actual tank reading are two different things. The new heater is set to 82 but tank only sits at about 77 based off two different thermometers. Pretty standard stuff on any digital read out type heaters. No way to really calibrate these so you get what you get, no more true info than a green or red light in this case, lol

Our water heater had a rebate from PSE and was installed by Narrows Heating and Air Conditioning. Super happy with the way the install is going. Very clean and neat despite the challenges they faced with the location and former plumbing they had to tie into. Super excited to run this for filling up my fish tanks!

Water change morning with 5 of the 6 tanks in the garage tank getting done and I just have the shellie tank left to do. The 300 also got a water change too. The new tankless water heater is absolutely silent and worked great for my aquarium refills.

No little crypts coming out in this session, I think I'm aiming to get the 55 stack running and planted on Christmas break, that's when I think I'll have extras. I'm going to be taking 2 of my networked tanks off the system to redesign the wiers and incorporate corner matten pre-filters so there will be allot of mature crypts coming out of the cups if I can get the roots out.

Might have some of the "windelov" flame type Java fern too, have you ever tried those?

Today's another water change, and further plant work. I discovered a development with one of my lily's and have taken some time to really try and weigh out some possible complications. But I might basically be letting one of these tanks "ride" for the month. Allot of what I do to my tanks is reading, is that strange?

Got home from working out of town last night, installed the ehiem 600 and tossed in the wood I ordered from Chewy. I was afraid the medium size would be too small but the two pieces I got were actually a pretty good size. Forgot to take a picture before I left. But its looking a lot better.

Tannins are leaching. But Robert seems to be getting better. He is missing some scales but they are starting to grow back.

This really doesn't go down as what I did to my tank but..... after 4 plus years of trying to "crack the code" I have my first spawning of Corydoras eques! There are over 100 eggs. I have 3 females and 6 males. Pretty stoked! If you look them up on planet catfish there are only 4 known spawning of them in captivity.

That's awesome. Hopefully they will keep on churning out the eggs. I have read the reports and sounds like a bit of work.
