What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Pulled my blue Sev from the 260g as I think he got thrashed. He had stringy poo and what looked like white worms hanging out of the hill plated. I had this on one of the green Sev's before. He is now in a Rubbermaid hospital with 3 Tbs of salt and a dose of paraguard.

@lloyd378 how is the new red wolf settling in?

Mine really is pretty lazy, an ambush predator that sits in wait. I can see why they generally say a 40B of standard 55 gallon is enough for one. Though when I saw the video of the one @FishBeast had in the 75... it made me think twice on tank size, his was, well a beast, lol.

Im raising mine out in a 65B to itself. It comes out and begs when it sees me and has been eating very well. So far Ive got it eating earthworms, frozen krill, clams, tilapia with pellets stuffed inside. Still need to get it onto a pellet of some form but the Hikari carnivore pellets are being ignored and I think massivore might be a bit big at this point. It is a fun, friendly little fish for sure.

Puffer update, not sure why it was acting so weird for a while with the spitting out of food everywhere but starved it for a couple days and it seems to be eating better. It still is very unsure of eating silversides or tilapia filets but does really well with the clams and earthworms.

Yesterday I received a shipment of four Xenotilapia bathyphilus 'Kekese' from Aquarium Fish Depot in San Diego, which I had never used before. It was pretty cold overnight, and the water temp was only mid-60's when the fishes arrived, so that was more than a bit concerning. I set them up on a slow drip, and after equilibration, added them to a 125 with five other X. bathyphilus 'Kekese.' This morning they all look great, and the slightly larger fishes I already had are interacting nicely with the new arrivals. I plan to move all the other Xeno's out of that tank so the bathyphilus will have the entire tank bottom to themselves; my young Ophthalmotilapia nasuta 'Kipili Gold' grow-outs will be added later. I was very pleased at the size of the new fishes, so many online vendors overestimate the size of their fishes, but Aquarium Fish Depot was spot-on. :)

I need a heater for the Rubbermaid hospital so I stopped by Aquarium Paradise. I got the heater and 2 possible Orinocodoras eigenmanni that were mixed in with the stripped raphaels. They are on the skinny side but being wild caught not suprising.

That is where I had got my old one from too.

Mine ate frozen krill the first night and patrolled the back of the tank. But is super shy and nervous when I walk into the room.

i added 5 tetras ( can’t remember the name of them , but they are medium sized) that I’ve had for about 4 months. I’m now down to 2 haha.

anyways, it likes to lay in the roots of that plant you got me. I usually poke it with a chopstick to get it to go to the bottom for frozen krill. Haha

Your wolf will settle in and become quite outgoing. I was suprised at how much mine interacts during feeding and I feel like its still fairly new. Likely will even get better with time.

Any luck getting it on pellets? Tried it at least?

Last night after dinner had a bit of time so I did some light garage tank cleaning. I like being able to get a small midweek gravel vac in, especially on tanks with a pleco. They are quite the poop machines. At the moment I have 5 plecos, a rhino, L001 sailfin, and a regular bristle nose along with two albino’s.

I added pellets and it didn’t entice him. He may stick to vitamin soaked frozen krill and tetras. Haha

Apparently mine was being fed silversides. They were too big to do whole so I have had to cut them up. Do they have 'small' sized silversides? The ones I got are fairly sizeable at about 3" or so. Half that size would be perfect.

Mine didn’t come with much info other than it ate frozen ( thawed ) krill the first morning they got it in. I purchased it later that afternoon.

mad for silver sides, I’ve never seen them offered at anything smaller than the 3” you mentioned.
I think my wolf is about 4.25” so it would need to be cut into thirds for it to eat them

I may run to AP tomorrow to get some silver sides to try too
I bought the little Hikari packs. When I cut the silverside to feed, I stuffed a couple pellets in the body cavity. This way the wolf might get some of the flavor of the pellet and may eventually get to taking pellets… at least I can hope, lol

Today I scored four Triglachromis otostigma on Aquabid. These are somewhat esoteric Tanganyikans that are difficult to find. I had a WC pair of them years ago; had them for a long time but never had any spawns. I don't believe they had been spawned in captivity at that time. I've always had my eye out for these, and Rare Fish USA recently got a shipment of WC fishes, but at $80 each. The fishes I purchased are tank-raised.

These are mud-floor dwellers that dig tunnels in the mud to spawn. I'm looking forward to having these again, as they are very different from other Tanganyikans, and sparkly-pretty. Another fish with similar habits is Limnochromis auritus, which is also on my to-do list. I have never seen these in life.
