Decided to move a brooding
Cyprichromis leptostoma female from her 125 gallon 'community' tank into a 40L brooding tank, but she spit her embryos during transfer. This was not totally unexpected, as she is a small fish, and this may well have been her first brood. Here is a pic of the 125 containing the
Cyprichromis community. The Cyps are the torpedo-shaped fishes; males have yellow tails. It is
not easy to catch these fishes in a 6-foot tank-
I put the female into the brooding tank to recover, then retrieved her six embryos and put them into an egg tumbler for artificial incubation. I would estimate that these embryos are about 10 days old, so they have 2+ weeks to go before they would have been released by the female. Here they are in the egg tumbler-
Cute little guys. Fingers crossed.
