What did you do with your tank(s) today?

@lloyd378, have you tried that Hikari blood-red parrot food on those jewels? Wondering if it would increase the intensity even more?

Did the jewels end up giving you a viable batch? That is really cool, a bucket list item for me, to breed a fish from eggs. Ive had live bearers before but never did the from egg thing yet. I should get a breeding pair of convicts, just to check that off my list, lol.

Well my puffer does not seem very interested in guppies, lol. There was still 9 of them at last count. Will see if that changed when I get home from work. Im going to have to feed those guys now, ugh. Im thinking I should run down to the beach and try some shore crabs. That usually get the puffs pretty excited to hunt them down. Ive been treating everything else as pretty normal with its tank cleanings but I might try a new aquascape. I have some spiderwood that would work well in there and may create a bit more intricate hiding spots. Ive heard of this happening to other puffer owners and they just power through and one day the fish just starts eating again. My hairy puffer has never gone on a hunger strike... and it shows, lol
Wonder if my murder beans would take on some of the tiny shore crabs.

Received a shipment from Petco today containing the glass covers for my two new 75s. I like Aqueon products, and the glass covers for their tanks are really nice: heavy glass and fit perfectly.

It's a bit sad to see these tanks just languishing in the garage at the moment, but I can't do a thing until my mouthbrooding O. nasuta female in one of the to-be-replaced 55s releases her fry, hopefully next weekend. Patience. :whistle

Maybe, sometimes you can find some absolutely tiny ones when you flip rocks over. I do disable the pinchers to protect my puffs but at pea puff size, that may be a challenge. Its pretty cool to see how the puffers instincts kick in on how to approach the crab and hunting it down. I dont feed them too often because it is hard to clean up later. Gravel vac’ing the crab shells and legs is messy.

@sir_keith you need to start up a build thread in the ‘Photos, Videos & Journals’ section. We need this all in one spot. Want to see how you are doing the stand extensions and what not.

Has he ever been in a tank so low to the ground before? Maybe he is freaked out by the elevation change?

I know when we had the dragon puffers they didn’t enjoy a tank change and actually became pretty lethargic ..... until I added like five bright orange and red mollies to the tank, and then they destroyed them and went back to normal.

currently my fahaka puffer is the size of your guy and he won’t waste his time with guppies either, but drop in a clam, krill, or some large fish and he is game to eat them

My new upcoming project will be a small group of Trimac cichlids to grow out for my eventual solo wet pet. My last trimac just proved to be a problematic fish on so many levels that I decided the best thing to do was part ways with it. Currently @lloyd378 is taking a crack at it and I hope him success with it.

With this upcoming venture I am getting six F1 Rio Niltepic trimac from Max's Cichlids. I really wanted to share with you guys how awesome he is. His website hadnt been updated in a while when I contacted him some months back but my simple inquiry was answered quickly and no pressure to buy anything. When I did make up my mind and had tanks ready I emailed and he was out of the country at the moment but he still responded to emails quickly. He said he would be back on the 18th and would contact me... Sure enough he was on it. He got back with me so fast and everything is now paid for and I am to pick up the fish at the airport on Sunday. Just had to share how impressed I am with him and this company. His communication is outstanding, especially in light of the fact this is not a giant order by any means, its only $120 in fish!

Yes, he has been in a lower tank before. He used to be in the 65B to the right of him. I feel I need to rescape the tank. I took out the huge mopani he had in the past because he didnt like to go past it. It almost divided the tank and he tended to stay on one side more. Maybe I need to add that monster piece back in.

Have any of us on the Box been sending fishes to the Wet Spot? If so, it would be nice to coordinate amongst ourselves to do that. Just a thought...
In the summer of 2019 I sold about 300 or so Amphilophus Saggitae fry to The Wet Spot. It was a mix of his 3rd and 5th spawn. They were small and they didn't even sell any for six months as they grew them out.A. sagittae.jpg
His fry @The Wet Spot
Him now nearly 3 years old
