What did you do with your tank(s) today?

It's been many, many years since I accidentally bought a flying fox thinking it was an SAE. I was new to the hobby and had an outbreak of black beard algae. Flying foxes don't eat algea and are really aggressive. Great for planaria though and kinda pretty.

@Madness, those are cool looking. That one is the typical flying fox, Ive been looking at the SAE which are said to be less aggressive and stay a bit smaller. But Ive read MFK reports of 5”+ fish with aggression... no pictures however so not sure what fish those people had. Could have even been the CAE.
You should stop by my place sometime and see the SAE's in my 125's: groups of 6-7 fishes that are all about 3-4 years old, maybe 2-1/2"TL, frolicking in groups, zero aggression. And oh yeah, they eat algae! :)

Moved a group of young Xenotilapia flavipinnis 'Red Royal' into a 55 grow-out tank with my 3 batches of F1 Ophthalmotilapia nasuta 'Kipili Gold' juveniles. This tank won't be big enough for them once they grow up, but it would make a nice collection in a bigger tank (and where is that going to come from?). The Red Royals are biparental mouthbrooders that form stable pair bonds, and they are just starting to color up nicely.

I have another small group of Xenotilapia ochrogenys 'Ndole' (a. k. a. X. singularis) coming in next week to add to my existing colony; looking forward to that, as these are one of my favourite Xeno's.

I bought two which are probably only 1.5-2” I never see mine together unless I’m feeding all of the fish some flakes.

Looks great.... is that where you plan to keep the rtm?
Thats what Im leaning toward, having the solo RTM female and maybe a clean up fish or two. Seems she ignores pleco but dont want a giant sailfin. Maybe a green phantom or something that stays about 7" max.

I am thinking of adding a second Aquaclear 110 to each 90 gallon and put a divider in and then I have 4 slots to raise out some aggressive fishes.

Putting my stimulus money to work, lol.

Just ordered an Aquaclear 110 from Petsmart. They had a 17% off sale so with tax was $72.97, great deal for a new in box aquaclear. Also ordered a Fluval Algae magnet for my 46g bowfront.

I am going to do double Aquaclear 110 on one of my 90's. This will be for a future bruiser...

Ordered this a while back on Amazon... just came in today

I just noticed that sexed males and females of Neolamprologus maranguensis are now available at Live Fish Direct at good prices. This is a lesser known member of the 'Brichardi Group' of Tanganyikan 'Princess Cichlids.' They would make an awesome species tank, as they raise their fry in a cooperative breeding group, much like Julidochromis. :whistle

Straightening up the fish room. Throwing away stuff that's broken and not fixable. Listed the drop in chiller on CL and hopefully it will be gone this evening.

What tank size would you need for some colony action? Always wanted a brichardi species tank.
