What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Well, this is not Tropheus, but definitely fits the 'rare' bill- Benthochromis tricoti, a peaceful, deep-water Tanganyikan that grows to 8-10". I've only ever seen these once, freshly wild-caught, a long time ago. LFD has four little ones in stock; I would assume these are captive bred. Got a spare 240 lying around?

New scape for the 210 after adding the new poly to redraw territorial lines. Datnoid hiding in pic as he is not used to lights being on!E5EE7A19-EA79-4D95-AE06-FC428F0E779F.jpeg
Main piece is manzanita I picked up 2-3 years ago, anchored to slate.

I also had this “rhino horn” looking piece of Mopani that I positioned so it looks like it’s jutting from below.

Poly pile! They’re under a piece of arching Malaysian wood.

Well that was quick: they're gone. $40 each for 2" fishes, and all four sold in less than 24 hours. I would have been tempted for a bigger group, but too much of a crap shoot with only 4 fishes. Did I mention the recent group of Ophthalmotilapia nasuta Chimba 'Tiger' that I bought last year? Eight fishes, all females. :(

More water changes yesterday; second bank of 55's.

Before-

After-

Both of these tanks are grow-out tanks at the moment. The 55 on the right contains my new colony of young Xenotilapia flavipinnis. This is the second biparental mouthbrooder in my collection, after X. spilopterus.

The 55 on the left contains two batches of fry from my wild-caught Ophthalmotilapia nasuta Kipili Gold; a total of 20 fry. The oldest of these are 15 weeks old, and already turning gold. like this little guy. He has a long way to go before he looks like his Dad, who is bright yellow. :)

Was up north visiting family the last few days. When I went down to the fish room the power was tripped. The light timers were stopped at 11pm so hopefully it was a less than 24hr event. I don't see any dead so serious disaster averted. Clocks up stairs were not flashing so I'm not sure what caused the trip.
I have some cherry shrimp that I received from @FishBeast over 2 years ago. They have always maintained a population but never more than a few. The colony is finally taking off and I can't count them all. Some are full lobster red and other look like stained glass.

I picked up a rack for (6) 40 breeders from Lloyd a couple weeks ago. Came with 2 40's and a 75. Traded the 75 for another 40 and bought 2 more with the Petco Dollar per gallon sale. Last night I installed a new dedicated 20amp outlet for the tanks since they will each be heated with a 300 watt heater (unheated shop - 1800 watts if they all run at the same time). Got them all painted black and drilled for a drain and got them installed, plumbed, and filled today. Tanks all drain out a 3/4" bulkhead into a 2" drain and out the side of my shop into the garden. Lights will be here in a couple days. The 6th tank is full of baby dovii so I will move that on top once I can move them to one of the new tanks.

I already had most of the equipment to get setup so it wasn't bad.

I still need to tap into my water line and bring water into the shop and add a water heater to then install a continuous drip system and tie my 400 gallon into it as well. Maybe next weekend.

Nothing exciting today, just cleaning on all 5 garage tanks. Love the water access with a utility sink on other side of the room, makes it so easy. Have to wait till Friday for new heater to set up my new bowfront tank. Been doing online shopping for live plants but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Problem is that not all plants I want are available at one seller. Hate when that happens.

I haven't had a new aquarium in years so today I purchased 2 from petco during the dollar per gallon sale. These are replacing 2 with failed seals. I am jealous of @Modest_Man and his 40 breeder rack but don't have that kinda space.

Always fun when something you need for the fishroom has the wife’s approval. Already had the two step version of this step ladder but wife needed it just a bit taller to access stuff in the garage so new step ladder purchase approved.

These are great because they are lightweight, sturdy and easy to lock and unlock.
