What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Thanks for that info. He is very inquisitive and checks out things that move. Even though he may not eat it, he would likely investigate it.

Yes, from what little I know about puffers, I was pretty sure that would be the case, which would be lethal for the nerites.

Wife had a hair appointment in Bonnet Lake so I volunteered to drive her up... and of course stop at Tropical Fish World.

My hope is to find some wood or rocks to adhere plants to. Seems like I will keep a community tank going for the time being so maybe a new fish.

No wood or rocks today from Bonney Lake or any new fish.

Seriously? And you had the perfect excuse- 'Sorry, Dear but it was all your fault for bringing me up here!'
It wasnt my fault! I wanted to spend money but the stock of wood and rocks was slim pickins’

Your restraint is LEGENDARY. Did they have anything cool?
Nice looking Chocolate cichlids, rainbow cichlids, EBJD’s. A tank full of albino sens on hold and your typical community fishes.

Time for some fish. Last tank got drilled and added to the drainage system. Lights were added. Had to mount a 20amp industrial power strip to run the heaters. Still need some substrate in the top two tanks, and I should find some better decorations. Just used what I had on hand.

Actually thinking of getting some community fish and doing one of the tanks planted. Told my wife they were all for dovii growouts but I lied. Probably 100 little dovii in the middle right tank but that leaves 5 empty for now.

Gravel vac’d and did water changes on 5 garage tanks. All done start to finish in half an hour.

Been concerned about my Raphael cat that looks really thin. I think its been on a hunger strike... I did blood worms after lights out the other night and I think it may have eaten a little. I dont think it eats pellets at all. Since I acquired this at a large size already, I dont know history on it so I am trying to get it figured out. But concerned with its skinniness.

Possibly just getting old? Loss of weight and appetite are common symptoms.

There was a post recently on the Cichlid Forum from a member who had a large Neotropical cichlid that had lost his appetite and was acting lethargic, but this fish was 15 years old! Pretty obvious what was going on here...

Could well be. My understanding is that they dont grow too quickly and this catfish is a good 6” so it could be a old one. The other talking cat I have is much younger and has some weight on it but not fat. This Raphael is just so thin that it seems sickly looking.

Took time to prep some Mopani to use as plant bases for anubias that are to come in tomorrow. I took a larger piece I had and cut it in half to give a flat base. I am currently boiling it to release tannins a bit faster. These are the pieces i have to work with.

I also have a piece of black lave rock I can work with. Not sure how I am going to do it yet, will have to see what the plants look like when they come in.

Please post some pics of the plants when they come in. I've been getting my Anubias from the Aquarium Plants Factory in CA; would like to compare sources.
I will post pics of the plants when they come in. I figure they have to look better than the Petco/Petsmart stuff I recently purchased.

Yes, for sure. I've had good luck with APF, but am always interested in new sources. I'd really like to find a place where I can get some large Java ferns and big clumps of Java moss.

Today was a fish store day. Went to Bridges and all I can say is “WOW!”, Pretty impressive place. Then drove to Dennys and Sierra. Was looking at decor, particularly driftwood and rocks so I didn’t really pay attention to fish that much so sorry in advance for those who will ask about fish.

I will say Dennys had some awesome large pieces of wood but I wasn’t really sure about it. This is stuff Ive been seeing lately from China. Looks good and heavy but not sure exactly what it is or its nature with tannins. Decided to pass on it for now. Might try some in the future.

Do you have a pic? Like @sir_keith said it could be age. Other (unlikely) possibility is parasites but then other fish should have symptoms too...
