What did you do with your tank(s) today?

If your not totally opposed to glass... the Aqueon 125 at Petsmart goes on sale often. Good looking combo but I think it sits much lower than the 5 foot one you moved out.

Yes, that's right. I have two of these setups, and really like them. I picked one up at the PetSmart in Silverdale last December . It was on sale for $479, but there was another 15% discount for ordering online and picking it up in the store, which brought the total to $408 before tax. Smoking deal. The ensemble includes a really nice Aqueon 6 foot, 125g glass tank, a full set of high-quality glass hoods, two LED light fixtures, and an attractive stand. They seem to go on sale regularly, so there's no reason to ever pay the full list price of $699.

Here are pics of one of those tanks before and after setup at my place; I think it looks particularly nice on the 28" tall stand, which is about the height of a typical 55g stand-

For comparison, here is a pic of one of the Aqueon 125g's (foreground) compared to an acrylic 100g tank on a 34" tall stand (background). Personally, I prefer the shorter stands.

Woo hoo, heat pump all up and running! Yesterday I was doing water changes in the garage and it was so hot and muggy. Didn’t realize how much the two vents in the garage added to the comfort level out there. Glad its up and running now.

Yesterday was garage water change day, that was pretty much the big fish keeping fun for the day.

I was up crazy early this morning, so did a 50% water change on one of my 125's before heading out to the market to do my bi- (or tri-) weekly shopping (the market opens at 6 a. m.). Successful trip. :p

Had a power outage last night for about an hour. Got the break out the back up battery air pumps. Im glad I have them but was thinking I should switch over to a type that does not use D batteries. I think Ive seen some usb powered ones. Then I could use my Makita drill batteries with my usb converter. since is was a short outage for about an hour or so dont think it harmed the beneficial bacteria but woke early and did water changes on the 5 garage tanks.

How big is it?
I saw the amazing picture you submitted on MFK. Though, I am biased by having raised the beautiful fish. :D
The raphael is about 3 inches and gets beat up by said pleco who is just a little bit bigger.
I wasnt expecting the picture to do so well in the polls, I just entered it because the potm sometimes lacks pics. And yes you did a nice job on him!

I had a power outage on Thursday as well, but it was scheduled, and I knew about it in advance. PSE was replacing a utility pole in front of my property that had been pecked to death by Flickers. It was fun to watch the whole process- three big trucks with all kinds of specialized equipment, a crew of 6, etc. I've always enjoyed watching other people work!

The power was out for only two hours, so I didn't have to fuss with the fishroom, except for making sure that all the filters had self-primed once the power was restored. I have some of those D-battery powered pumps as well, but use them mainly for transporting fishes. During the inevitable outages that occur every winter, I have a generator for emergency power; really a godsend for my fishroom.

Not yet. These guys need a dry spell type period followed by rain/rodi water changes to induce spawning. I am considering setting up a filter system for the fish room for this and so that I don’t need chemical treatments.

Woke up early and did a couple water changes on the garage 75g tanks. Been busy with summertime projects so not getting to water changes quite as often. While I have been getting freshwater into the tanks, I do need to gavel vac and scrub some algae off the glass. For me this is dirty tanks, lol.

The last two months have been very rough at work being so short handed and so much to do. I end up getting home too mentally tired to really work on tanks the way I like them to be kept. While I do lame lame water changes of swapping out with fresh water. I really havent 'cleaned' like I normally do with gravel vac's and scrubbing down the glass. For me this just looks dirty. I hired a part time helper at work so tomorrow I took a day off! I hope to get a little tank time in and get a couple tanks cleaned a bit better.
