What did you do with your tank(s) today?

There’s more space in the living room :D

That's a slippery slope. I've always had a rule that only one tank would be allowed to escape from the fish room. I've already bent that rule by having a tank in my living room plus one in my TV room. Even so...

What did I do with my tanks today? Topped them off...
What did I DO today?...
I went to visit a wafishbox legend.
Yes, I (me) got to step foot in the realm of glorious garage rack fishkeeping. What started as a dragon stone pickup, morphed into beloved tales of our past and current fishkeeping escapades.
I was telling myself, "I hope I get to see his garage setup and this isn't just a porch pickup." Well, I must've left my bluetooth on because it was heard! Saw the garage door rolling up and had to do a mini, down low, fist pump. I was in!
@DMD123 thanks for the stones, the extra stones, the bucket, and great conversation. Thanks for holding them for me. You are one of the nicest people I've ever met!
Be jealous people...be very jealous

@whatthebloody, say what? When did you stop by? Whose house were you at? lol

Was great to meet you and hang a bit talking fish and plants. One day there will be a live plant in one of my tanks and you will be part of the reason. Seeing your planted set ups has always been a great motivator for me.

It was great to learn one of your secrets... you used to keep Oscars! A big cichlid keeper at one time. Maybe again one day when the kids are all grown? Thats what happened to me.

Today was a “just because” cleaning with an Aquaclear 110 on the Trimac tank getting taken apart and cleaned. I love how easy it is to maintain these filters. Glad I have these on the 4 bigger tanks in the garage. On the 30 gallon I use a AC70 which use the same intake tubes as the 110 but just scaled down. Part of me wishes I would have done the 110 on the 30 gallon but it seems overkill... who knows maybe I will upgrade later.

I'm trying to resist the urge to buy a group of these-

Cyathopharynx Foai 'Kachese'
One of the most highly prized Tanganyikan featherfins, and definitely on my 'To Do' list. I have room at the moment to raise a group of juveniles, but these fishes get big- 8" for the males- and a group of 2 males and 4-6 females would require at least a 125 gallon tank. And I don't have a 125 at present whose sand floor is not already occupied. Why does it seem like you are always one tank shy of what you need? :blush
Tank number is always a moving target hehe! ;)

I picked up 2 more tanks today. One glass 140g and an acrylic 4x2x2. Both with blown seals. The 140 will be the new home for the bearded dragon and the acrylic will be made into tops.
Oh, and I got my user name change by @Joel so I can be anonymous again

Cleaning the 300 this morning by doing a gravel vac on it.

Planning some upcoming maintenance on FX6 filters. Ordered new gaskets since these are the same ones that have been on it since purchase some 4 years ago. Ive never had a filter leak due to faulty gaskets but I usually replace every 2 years to be safe. Also bought new 36w UV tube for the sterilizer. I probably dont need a UV on the tank but it does keep the water very clear and algae growth is pretty non existent.

Got bored so I changed out the UV bulb

I custom plumbed this into my FX6 when I was setting up. Made it to be able to run the filter and pull the UV out for service. On my 210 I had set one up and completely forgot to make it removable! lol, was a great learning experience for setting up the 300.

Cleaned out four Eheim 2217 canister filters. Did a 65% water change in one of the 125's. Received my new instant-read digital thermometer (my old one got wet and did not survive). It was a nightmare trying to find a replacement thermometer: every search I did came up with clinical thermometers that were $100+; big market for these what with COVID-19. I've been spending so much time out in my garden for the last 7 weeks that I'm actually behind on my fish room chores.

Gravel vac on the 300 and water change day. I only do about a 1/3 of the tank but even that is 100 gallons! I put the water on the lawn and plants so it doesn’t go to waste. Been feeding NLS probiotix mixed in with the other foods and Im not sure if I see any reduction in waste but I figure it cant hurt and might just help the fish with digestion.
