What did you do with your tank(s) today?

8:45 and no power still. They haven't given an updated ETA on it yet, just says they are working on it. All my battery air pumps are going and temps are not too low so it should be fine...

These outages are no fun at all when you have fishes to fret about. :thumbsdown Hope you get your power back soon.
15 minutes later… at 9pm I got power. Just to be safe since power was out for 8 hrs, I did water changes on 5 of the garage tanks. Was just too tired tonight to do the shellie tank or the 300. Likely tomorrow I wiil do a water change on the 300 for safe measure. Not too worried about the shellies since its not overstocked and I recently cleaned the filter and did a bigger water change a few days ago. All seems well.

Woke early this morning and did a drain and fill on the 300 and dosed just a little more Seachem Safe to deal with any potential ammonia issues from the power outage. So everything seems fine in the tanks at the moment.

Been waiting to see if any live fish websites are going to offer Black Friday deals. On the lookout for a red wolf fish to grow out. Maybe a fancy pleco or smaller type catfish too.

Those are interesting catfish and I have always liked the giraffe cats but the regular ones just get way too big for me to keep. The dwarf would be a nice fit.

I was looking at maybe something to go with the Bumblebee Oscar. Maybe a couple more hoplo's for a trio in the 90 with a green phantom pleco.

Or I was looking at something also in the talking catfish family, not necessarily a Raphael but maybe something in that family line.

Im really interested in this one: Anadoras grypus – speckled talking catfish

Did you notice any changes in your water parameters after the power outage? I'm just curious about how much NH4/NO2/NO3 accumulation you might see after 8 hours without filtration.

I honestly didnt even think to check, I automatically just did water changes first, lol. I paid more attention to temperature drops with the garage tanks dropping by about 3 degrees over the 8hr period and the 300 dropped like 2 degrees.

I was just wondering whether all those water changes were even necessary after only 8 hours...

Of course not; just a lot of work... :thumbsup
Garage tanks are quite easy with the utility sink so close. Plus it was only about 25% water changes with just a light gravel vac in the 90 with the big rhino pleco and the 65B with the small sailfin. These two are huge poopers! The rest were just simple drain and refills.

Decided to cut my wire between the ballast and bulb on my UV to add a plug to make bulb changes easier. Silly me should have read the wire and saw it was 4 conductors inside and not just 3. So I had to order a plug set to make that work. This should make life much easier when I change out the bulb.

I would've grabbed a flat 4 trailer connector for such a predicament, couple bucks a pair usually but I have a pile of them in the garage. My Ace hardware does carry mini and standard molex connectors. Curious, what kind did you order? I love super cool ones, I bet amphenol has some that would fit in the hundreds of dollars range all mil-spec and what not.

Took Petco a little over two weeks to get my entire order fulfilled with it being split up into 3 separate shipments but its complete. We do get spoiled by Amazon and its 2 day shipping. Now I'm waiting for them to fulfil the $25 eCard for doing the $50 purchase. Plan was to use that money to stock up on more food. I noticed that its still an unadvertised sale but the fish foods look like they go into the cart with buy 2 and get 1 free.

My 4 prong plug and socket assembly was sold as a 'kit' but being sent out as two separate shipments with one piece getting here today and the other scheduled for tomorrow. So goal is to get my UV back up and running by tomorrow night. I really miss the crispness that it keeps the water and slows down algae growth in general. I feel confident that the epoxy seal of the light windows will hold quite well with the leak solved. I seal both windows even though only one side leaked. Not taking chances on this leaking again.

Getting ideas together to move the Bumblebee Oscar into the 90 gallon. It needs a new aqua-scape to take into account a full grown Oscar and nothing to sharp or pointy because the fish tend to easily hurt themselves. So i need to go through my existing driftwood and rocks and see what I want to do or go shop for a couple new pieces of decor. Also need to rethink the scape of the 65B for a future red wolf fish...

These are nice plugs with a nice rubber seal where the wire comes in and a nice wire clamp lock so it won’t pull out easily. The connections are huge but not really an issue since its hidden in the cabinet.
