That is a great deal. I thought about doing something like this, mounting LED strips inside my old T5 HO fixtures, but in the end I just got lazy and bought a bunch of Beamswork 6500K +actinic DA and EA fixtures. These sit right on top of my tanks, and with this arrangement I only run the 6500K lights at 10-20% maximum intensity. I suppose it might be different if I had plants that require more light. I do love to watch the fishes in the evening when just the actinic lights are on, all sorts of behaviors that you don't see in daytime.

I looked at the Current USA site and those lights are well priced along with the plant light fixtures. Too bad I dont need anything right now....

Not sure these will grow plants as there aren't any rgb LEDs. I throw clippings in the upper tanks on occasion so we'll see. Subwassertang of java moss maybe.

I almost passed these up too. I wasn't sure what I would use for a light hood. I had these old shop reflectors in the furnace closet that I had forgotten about.

Just a FYI, my 6500K + actinic LEDs are growing Anubias just fine without any RGB LEDs. Sure, Anubias don't require much light, but mine are thriving, as you may have seen in some of the pics I've posted here. :)

Cool. Where did you find them? They are not easy to find, and tend to be pricey.

I remember a while back when you first started keeping Multi's, you asked on this forum "Are all Tanganyikans this easy to breed?" The answer, both then and now, was an emphatic "No," and you're about to get a case lesson with the Sumbu. Have fun! :)

Wow, you have quite the memory. The new guy @cjag messaged me to see if I would be interested in 3 more that are getting bullied by his similis and largest Sumbu. I of course said, yes please.

Yeah I hope you have better luck with them! I didn't know they were considered rare. I had a few different vendors that I chose from.
