What did you do with your tank(s) today?

It was good to see you today, DMD… thanks for the pair of pleco ( and offspring) and the sterbai cories.

They are all doing well, though my big male bn pleco is not being very kind to the new male!

Looking good! I will say that the male albino was calm compared to other bn pleco males Ive had. Even with babies, he was not overly territorial. My regular bn male that currently lives with my red wolf was the worst. He would even go at my oscar when the shared the 90. Was kind of comical considering the size difference.

Here is a dirty glass pic of my red wolf fish coming out as he could smell the frozen krill tonight.

Still thinking about what to add to the 46 bowfront. The monk tetra do school very well in a tight formation so likely will pick up a few more. Was really cool looking when the school was around 11 back when I first started with them. They are fairly inexpensive so thats a plus since they dont have too long a lifespan.

Want to add a little splash of color so am thinking of an apisto dwarf cichlid. Seems best in store selection is usually at Pet Works so likely will go there for that.

Aquarium co-op used to have an amazing selection of apistos…. I once bought five for a 75g of all different varieties. I liked them, but they were aggressive toward each other and also too small to enjoy in a 75g

I was trying to think of places for community fishes and Aquarium Co-Op came to mind but just such a long drive. Again like all of us have said, there needs to be a second location, lol

I figured I would likely get the Monk tetra from Petco or Petsmart and see about something fancy like the apisto from Pet Works. Maybe I should head up to Bonney Lake to look at community fish too… they can have good stuff at times.

Stopped at Lakewood Petco and found my Red Eye Tetras… had to pass on them since tankmates had visible Ich. Wasnt going to take a risk bringing anything home. Did get a Java Fern to add to the 46 bowfront. So next stop Petsmart where I got 7 of the tetra and a pair or swordtails.

Called Pet Works about possibly bringing in the two Bocourti in for store credit. They couldn’t do it on Sunday because of the heavy foot traffic at store and not having enough employees. They said to call tomorrow and check. Wasnt a no, they wanted to make sure where to put them, how much credit they could give and to make sure they had enough time to acclimate, along with enough sales floor coverage. So I will check in tomorrow. Hope to get an apisto while Im there.

I was missing tall plants in the bowfront. The new java fern is perfect. There were two plants in the tube, so I mounted them on the same rock a little apart to give it a bit more size. If it hold up then I might add another to fill in the background. I now need to find a very low growing foreground plant, preferably that could be grown on a stone… ideas? Suggestion?

Here is the new plant in place

I just finished setting up my 40 gallon breeder and stand in my man cave. Just need to get to hardscaping. Since I got that nice piece of driftwood from @DMD123 I had to get a new setup to help realize it's potential. Coming soon should be the setup before I start adding plants. Still trying to figure out just how to make the wood be a good centerpiece, but I have some great ideas.
I have it mostly scaped and planted now. CO2 hooked up with a plant light. Just have to see how it grows.

@sir_keith, thanks for the suggestion. I was looking at a variation of that at Buce

Im just not experienced enough to feel comfortable buying that just yet, probably look for the regular variety first.

Went to Pet Works in Olympia after work. Traded in the Bocourti for two Apisto cacatuoides “super red”

I had this weird idea for my 65B when the pearsei moves out… Im thinking of a tank with all white or albino fishes. I have the 4 albino hoplo cats and am thinking a albino bn pleco, a group of white skirt tetra and maybe a group of white/platinum angels of some sort. Not sure what else I can find for this mixture but its just an idea.

sent my 5 giant danios and my 5 silver tetras to my wife’s office tank to clear space in my living room for some additional sword tails. I originally had 3 males but was down to 1.

Anyways,
I picked up 7 new swordtails both male and female from petco as they were only 3 dollars each.

They looked good and even ate, but just now, I came into the room to see the male sword tail I got today halfway down the mouth of my baby 4” delhizhi Bichir.

Well, the del is now in my bedroom tankwith my catfish and I’ll need to go somewhere else to procure some additional male sword tails. Haha

Got my filter inserts for my Fluval Flex 32.5. These should do a lot better.

The stock spong is a joke and its never been dirty which makes me wonder what it is even doing? Maybe just bio?

This is the one I got

I cut an AC70 filter in half that will go in the middle to act as bio. I am doing filter floss in the top because its cheap and easy to replace. Bottom will be ceramic rings

With the cold weather I find that I can spend more time with the fish since Im indoors a lot more. Feels good when I can do a bit of tank maintenance 'just because' I want to. So last night I got to do a few 'just because' cleanings in the garage. Light gravel vac of the 90g trimac tank and the 46g bowfront, mostly just to clean pleco poo. Then I did a heavy cleaning of the Fluvel Flex trying to get it ready for the new filter inserts.
