What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Ive ran 2 timers on the 300 gallon lighting for years before all the new light fixtures came out with dusk/dawn effects and gradual dimming.
One set of timers was main light and the other was more spot lighting that would create the dusk or dawn effect.
Well as time went by, my cheap little secondary lights burned out one at a time and I needed some new ones.

I just got these as replacements on Amazon:

Pretty impressive little things. For $13.99 each, the two lights I got brighten up a 8', 30" deep tank pretty well. I have them turned down to the lowest setting but if I added a third and turned them up, they would light up the 300 quite well. Very nice little light

Hard core garage tank work today. All six got good glass cleaning, gravel vac, 50% water changes. Also did a bit of extra stuff to tanks.

Installed the “inTank” filter inserts in the Fluval Flex.
Cleaned an Aquaclear 110 in the 90 gallon Oscar tank.
Pulled out java fern and did a peroxide dip to get algae off leaves.

How much did you charge yourself for that cleaning? I can’t find the desire to clean my five so I’m going to outsource. Haha

I always get a second wind for tank maintenance when fall hits and I have extra time on my hands. Keeping the 7 tanks during the spring and summer are always harder since I have other jobs around the house I try and accomplish during warmer weather. I actually feel guilty that I dont get to spend much time with the fish during those times.

I had given up using Hikari Massivore due to the awful smell it would produce in the water... but recently I bought a bag to feed the red wolf and so far if he eats it all then there are no issues. I fed the bichirs some last night too. So far so good with no tank water stink, lol.

The problem with this stuff besides the stink was its high calorie nature. When I used to feed it to the bichirs in the past with the big Pearsei in the tank, it would eat them too. She got absolutly huge on them but I think it contributed greatly to her obesity and eventual prolapse issue. So for now with no Pearsei I might feed the bichir this stuff but when the new Pearsei moves in I will stop so there are no issues.

Did some light cleaning on the garage tanks. Mostly because I had fed or tried to feed Hikari Massivore and there was leftovers and didnt want the tank water stink, and for the growth boost to the pearsei.

At this point I decided to get a couple more Finnex titanium heaters to replace the Aquarium master ones where the digital readouts were starting to go out.

Well I thought about it and decided to go ahead and replace all of them that are acting up. So I ordered two of the 500 watt models for the 90's and two of the 300 watt for the 65B. The 46g bowfront still seems to be working but I do have a new Fluval in the box that I can put in there if need be.

I lost my N. transvestitus male which opened up his 29g for my C. dulicarius school. Since I had to pull everything out to catch them from the tank they were in I moved a half dozen G. pyrosephalus grow outs in with the N. splendens male to act as dithers. I have moved both female N. Splendens in too.
The N. Splendens are crazy aggressive towards each other and anything else in the tank. o_O

Some very light cleaning in the 300 this evening. Mostly to clean along the gravel line where I will get a little build up at times. Just did about half the tank so a little bit more left. Need to start cleaning some FX6 filters soon and replace the UV bulb in the sterilizer.

The tanks and fish all seem to be doing well with the exception of 3 the heaters on the garage tanks having the digital readouts starting to go out. They seem to heat fine and keep tanks to temp but getting unreadable now. Got confirmation new replacement heaters shipped so just waiting at this point.

I never actually pay attention to the read outs of the heaters…. Unless the tank feels warmer or colder than normal.

In fact, I haven’t even looked at my aquarium master heater in like months as it’s behind some live plants and I don’t want to uproot them to move the heater.

Pulled out some rocks from the 60g cube to increase water volume and to move the C similis to a different tank. They are super shy so I never saw them in the heavily planted tank. They are now in a 29g with swordtails and 3 T intermedia.
