What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Looks like Ive got serious buyers on my trimac. They are coming from Aberdeen and are meeting at my home at 9:30 in the morning to beat the heat. From what I got in a brief conversation, this guy has over 900 gallons in tanks! Look forward to meeting them. If my day starts with fish getting sold, then I might stop at a couple stores in the afternoon…

My buyers came right on time and got the trimac this morning so now its a matter of what to do with my tanks, lol.

I have an empty 30 for possible shellies but I need to redo the decor to house them. New substrate, shells, rock work, etc.

I still have two trimac and not sure if I want them in a split 90 gallon or what. Goal is still to keep just the one but these two are the best out of five males.

You should move the Hairy Puffer to the 30g and open up the 65g for a L. Tang set up.

Stopped at Tropical Fish World and Midway today just to look. They both had a few multis but otherwise not a whole lot of things of interest to me. I will probably need to order whatever fish I do decide to get. I could still do an axolotl in the 30, or maybe a fancy goldfish…lol

Started cleaning up the 30 a bit. Put all the floating java fern on rocks. I put one of the java rocks in the bowfront and watched the fish start eating the algae off it. I may just move the rest of the java fern in there and let the fish keep it clean.

Was bored and stopped by my local Lakewood Petsmart and just WOW, how do you run an aquatic department with no fish. Lots of empty tanks. So I go to Petco and they have fish in all their tanks and they look nice too. Didnt buy anything but was thinking of just a couple inexpensive fish to be in my 30 to keep the system running until I figure out what I want to do with it.

Shell dwellers will require a big change over with a bunch of new decor and things. So I am still doing my homework on this. I even thought about the suggestion from @sir_keith about moving the puffer into the 30. I like the idea because it is so little but long term the hairy is pretty active so I would want to either have a slightly bigger tank (the 38 gallon version of my tank?) or something at least of more interest like a Fluval Flex 32 gallon in there. Actually another 46 gallon Bowfront would be cool but don’t want to go through making another shelf like the one I did already.

Might just stop in to Aquarium Paradise and pick up a convict to throw into the 30 until I figure it out.

Drain and fill on the 300 this morning. Having the pump is handy to run the waste water out to my flower beds. Got to used that on the trees in the front bed where the sprinkler system needs some work. I love being able to use the water this way.

Had to setup a 10 gallon tank for the dreaded ich today….

my red spot severum has it, but I caught it extremely early.

mom watching the rest of the tank , but didn’t want to treat it yet as I have a bunch of kuhli loaches in there. So far, no one else is presenting any visible ich spots but I know better than that and know it’s in the tank now.

Nothing in the fish room today, because I spent all last night with a fever, chills, muscle aches, and a cough. Called Virginia Mason at 8 this morning, had a virtual appointment with my PCP at 9, drove to Bainbridge for a COVID PCR test at 10, and had the results by 11. COVID negative!

Apparently there are lots of non-COVID viral infections going around at the moment. My hat is off to Virginia Mason for remarkably timely and efficient care in a difficult time. These folks are the real heroes. :thumbsup

Sorry to hear that, but at least not COVID, some good news at least!

Got home and saw some algae growth in tanks so did a little cleaning. The 30 gallon, 46 gallon and both 65B were all gravel vac’d and glass scrubbed down.

This week is time to get my 30 gallon prepped to got full on shell dweller. I ordered some Aragonite and need to find some rock work to add to the tank. Saw some lace rock at Tropical Fish World that I might consider.

Getting ready for my 2021 shipment of oyster seeds from Taylor Shellfish, which will arrive tomorrow. Unless they get here before noon, the tide will be too high to set them out on the beach, so I will put them in mesh bags and hang them off my neighbor's dock until Friday morning. I've ordered a double batch this year because the 2020 crop has been growing unusually slowly. If we keep having these horrific heat waves every summer, I will have to move the whole setup much deeper in the water.

Ever since @sir_keith mentioned moving my hairy puffer to open up a 65B I have been really thinking about it. This puffer is extremely active and is all over the 65B so I know the tank needs to be bigger than the 30 for its future needs. But I could see it in a 46g bowfront... But do I move out the community to put the puffer in? Or replace the 30 on the bottom with another bowfront? That actually would look cool to make another shelf that sticks out like the top tank... Need to do some measuring.

Another option is to make another shelf board so I could drop in either a 40B or 50B in there. Didnt want to do that because it is a bit more challenging to pull the hob filter out for maintenance. The perfect tank for me is actually an Aquarium Masters Regular 40 gallon that is 15" wide instead of 12". Ugh, why do I let you guys talk me into things, lol

I like the idea of another bowfront; I think the two of them stacked would look very cool. :thumbsup

Have to do some measuring... might be a bit tight to remove the HOB filter... but I think it would look pretty cool.

The previous hairy puffer and this one both seem to have very outgoing personalities, I dont want to hamper that with a little tank so the logical thing would be to give it the space it needs. With my previous tanks I had the puffer in a 40B and really that would be the smallest tank I would try and keep it in so another 46 bow would be just fine.

I would love to do a Fluval Flex 32.5 down there but its only 32" long. If it were 36" to match the other tanks I would be getting that one.
