My wife is pretty supportive of the hobby but just going on a long drive to a fish store is not her favorite. A day trip to Snohomish is a nice compromise, a lot to see, great food and a cute little town.

Happy Father's Day. We spent some time on the lake today between rain showers doing what we do, got to watch a float plane landing and taking off while we were at it. Didn't get the focus right though :(.

A few Kokanee and a cutthroat x rainbow trout hybrid. Not a full limit kind of day by any means but got the boys back to running down riggers and all the other fun things that translate back to the saltwater techniques, with half the clean up.

How long did you leave the pots down for? I haven’t been crabbing in years, but we used to limit out over by quarter master harbor on vashon island. Drop the pots around 7am and pick them up around 4 for us.

Fish the rest of the day with lunch at the tides in gig harbor! Fun times.

I follow the tide cycles and pull on slacking high tides so typically 25-26 hour soaks. First pick up was a test drop (covering most depths and the north and south side of the feature we target) in a secret area near one of America's best kept secret areas, I'm beyond familiar with the particular spot, and very much understand why most people don't have the fortitude to drop there. 2 pots hit hard and the rest were scant indicating a narrow temperature/depth band this week. Second pickup we had them set in the target zone and limited out as expected. For me and the boys it was only so-so as on a "good day" we usually triple limit, cover the deck of the boat with crab and pick our favorites, usually 7" and bigger with allot of them being "bucket big". This weekend we only had few of the big guys and ended up keeping a couple that were just over the minimum 6-1/4". We are very selective with our red rock but I actually prefer them so we only keep the best, 6"+, barnacle free with perfect claws/legs and there were more tossers than keepers in that pile. With that being the case we called it good enough for the weekend (30 Dungeness, and 12 beautiful red rock) and went to play on the lakes.

Great minds think alike! Every year I used to do a 7-10 day cruise in South Sound in September, once all the family boaters were 'back-to-school,' and I had the whole place mostly to myself, even Jarrell Cove. On the way down from Seattle I'd put the pots down just outside of Quartermaster Harbor, then go over to Tides Tavern in Gig for a fish, chips, and beer brunch (ahem). A couple of hours later, the pots would be full of crabs, sometimes Dungeness, sometimes Red's; works for me either way!

Well jokes aside, that is a cool project. Ive wanted to build by own boards for a while too, but just been too busy with other projects and honey do lists. Maybe one day?

Missed this, sorry. Just indicative of a wetlands area. So mosses, cedar, salmonberries, orchids, probably hear the river or find a lake stuff like that. Just a place of year round life.
Lilies are doing well. Moved the smaller of the two into a tub in the spring so it's a bit late in growing. Really enjoying this pennywort growth habits. Thick masses of roots a few inches down acts like guppy grass for the fry and it pops above the surface a few inches. Probably going to acclimate some to the indoor tanks.
