Wow, packed day of activity!75% water change for 2 x 75G linked tanks and cleaned their 40G sump (190 gallons total system volume). Pulled dead leaves off big Amazon sword in a 29G. Installed a 75G sump and mattenfilter for the 75G updated hillstream tank (150 gallons total system volume). All on top of driving our 15 year old to scuba training, our 11 year old to wall climbing and meeting up with my wife who took our 6 year old on a “donut date” at Pao’s on 6th ave! Was able to sneak a look at Petco as well. Still have the dollar per gallon sale going.
They look like they are wearing lipstick on fat lips. Beautiful fish.
Are you back in WA? Hope you had a good time. I’ve had insane thoughts and temptations of stockpiling/hoarding tanks when they’re cheap hahahaWow, packed day of activity!
That $1 per gallon sale is very tempting, lol. Just got the 20L set up but want more, lol
Is it just me or do those silver dollars look bigger than when you recently posted the ID question?Water changes for the 55g and the 90g. Moved 5 red cherry shrimp up to the planted 29g. Added A. Nancon, A. Nangi, and A. Frazerii to the 90g. There has been some grazing by the Silver dollars but hopefully they get a stomachache and leave it alone. If not I will move them into the Multi tank

Amazing coloration and interesting nest construction! It’s always astounding to me when I think of how morphologically diverse the Rift Lake cichlids are due to genetic isolation. Evolution at work.Yes, the lips are the distinguishing feature of this species. Their sibling species, Enantiopus melanogenys, is very similar, but lacks the yellow lips and throat.
This is the normal coloration of a young male. When courting and/or nest-building, the ventral and anal fins have a wide, jet-black edge. Stunning.
The thing I like about Enantiopus is that although they engage in cichlid-typical ritualistic aggression during nest building and courting, they never seem to actually hurt each other, even in captivity. And their nests are awesome, like little sand castles, with turrets and everything. I have two colonies of these at present; really like them.
Not since the last but massive compared to when I got them back in April!!Is it just me or do those silver dollars look bigger than when you recently posted the ID question?
That’s a big POOFERNope still in California. Went to the aquarium today. Aquarium of the Pacific in Longbeach. Made a friend there...

Not sure on the fish, a lot of them were native to the California coastline.Yes hahaha! Maybe it knew you kept puffers too somehow That’s a cool fish... is it a rockfish of some sort? I’ve been often tempted to try my hand at a marine tank because of the beauty... maybe someday! Have fun in Cali!
Very nice pics! That frog though hahaha he reminds me of Jabba the Hutt!Sitting by the pool at the hotel just chilling. Looked through a few pics from the aquarium I thought were cool
