Well for $30 a pop I dont feel bad. Some people spend $300+ for one that turned yellow and then they get it and it turns black, lol. So no matter what happens I dont feel bad about the cost. I still think they are a cool looking pleco either way.

Got water changes done on all seven tanks over the weekend. This is the basic updates of what is going on with some of my tanks.

The 300 is as boring as ever... I need to get my focus fish in there soon. Again the temptation to move the Oscar in there, lol

The 46 bowfront has the little baby plecos exploring all over the tank now. Seems they should be getting picked off but they are still around. Thought the angel fish would have eaten them but doesnt look like it cares.

The 65B is seeing a much higher growth rate out of the main bocourti since I started using the large omega one sinking cichlid pellets. It really chows down now and I wonder if he can be moved in 3 months if I continue the way I am with him. I wish it would color up because its very bland looking still but it does have a massive thick build to him. The Chubby plecos are in this tank. Ive been leaving algae wafers in at night and they are always gone the next day. The hope is that they are getting some of that food. But I have seen them and they are both still alive.

The other 65B has my red wolf fish and wow its been interesting to see him getting much more active. Still hides out in his 'log' home but very aware of feeding and will bite the gravel vac now. Not the nibbles of when they see stuff going up the tube trying to feed. These are hard hits telling be to remove the gravel vac from its territory. Kind of cute to see.

The trimac is there... not as personable or mean at all really. Not a glass banger but not happy when I put my hand near the glass. Would never even think to attack me when I change the water so all bark and no bite. I am a bit bored with this one...

Got all 4 of my tanks cleaned today. Moved my paired angels into their own tank. And also added CO2 to my 55 planted tank. Also ordered some Congo tetras for my 125 to restock after the ammonia spike I had 3 months ago or so. So looking at getting it up and going again. Wish me luck with the CO2 and the tetras.

Bought an adult male BN pleco today from tropical fish world ( it will be going in my classroom tank on Monday).

I am also planning to tear down and sell my 125 soon as I need more space in the garage. Another thing I am trying to decide is if I should sell my female festae, my recently healed up barred red Devil, my two large ornate bichirs, my 3 rainbow fish, and my five geo brasiliensis.

I’m thinking I want to focus my 220g with my couple of Oscar’s, red wolf fish, and my blue severum and everything else can go.

It’s hard to make the decision, but I am really loving my wild caught Oscar so I want to grow him up without him getting bullied by the more aggressive cichlids I have in the garage.

Spent time on tanks today. Cleaned one AC110 filter in the garage along with all six tanks getting a decent gravel vac water change.

The 300 got a water change with all decor getting pulled and cleaned of algae along with a gravel vac water change.

Love it when all the tanks sparkle!

Had a nice visit with @fishguy1978 yesterday, who dropped off a 100g acrylic that I nabbed about 2 minutes after he posted his FS ad here! :lol I have been looking for an acrylic 100g to replace the 60" x 18" x16" 75g acrylic in my living room, shown here-

IMG_5766.jpg

The new tank is 60" x 18" x 24" for an enclosed volume of 112g, so it's a substantial upgrade. It is also a bit taller than the '100g' acrylic in my fish room, which is 60" x 18" x 20" (93.5g). I'm really excited about the new tank, as my Tropheus sp. 'ikola' colony will appreciate the additional space. The blue tape markers on the bricks in the pic above show how high the new tank will be with the black acrylic cover mounted, and the new tank is shown below. Thanks Colin!

I'm thinking that I might set the new tank up next weekend, and will post pics once that's done. It should be an easy swap as the only modifications I need to make to the existing setup are to run longer hoses to the FX6 and to move the eagle photograph on the wall up a few inches.

Cleaned an Aquaclear 110 after work. This was the one on the 46g bowfront. It still amazes me how dirty this tank gets with the simple community fishes but they get fed a bit more than my other tanks due to the little baby BN pleco.

Also met @Crashaxa, who picked up some driftwood pieces from me. Was nice to talk fish and plants with a fellow hobbyists.

Went up North today and on the way back stopped at Aquarium Co-Op in Edmonds. They were busy and I really wasn’t fish shopping but took a look and I was tempted by a pleco, I belive it was the L160 spiny monster if I remember correctly. I was proud of myself that I had enough self control to walk away, lol. Did end up buying a couple pleco caves for my chubby plecos.

Recently when @Crashaxa stopped by to pick up driftwood, I had asked his opinion about the eye on my red wolf. I needed that second opinion from another fishkeeper that something was a bit odd. The fish has this weird white film over both its eyes but seemingly more toward the very outside over the pupils. I did some extra water changes and decided to treat with some medications to see if it would clear up. Im trying Kanaplex as the first thing since it is a good overall treatment.

I will say that this fish is getting big and getting that ugly look that they do when approaching adult size. Ive started to feed him Hikari Massivore now since it seems the best sized pellet for him. He has become much more active lately, probably heard me talk about getting rid of his lazy little self and started to shape up, lol

Photosynthesis of Najas guadalupensis (guppy grass). I supplied some clippings to my kids HS science teacher. He dropped some water+sugar solution so the cells would lose water and become plasmolysed. You can see a couple where the interior (cytoplasm and green chloroplasts) is shriveled.123C8637-63FA-45B2-9BA6-4E0D10913B8F.jpeg

Super excited in my revelation (Posted about it in the American Cichlids section), that one of my bocourti growouts is a Pearsei! I should have seen it sooner but wasnt until yesterday that I saw it and realized I did end up with the fish I had wanted all along. I find it funny that I posted a picture of it a while back saying the little guy was looking like a Pearsei and no one caught it, lol. Now when I look back on pics I totally see it. Ive raised enough of these guys over the years that I should have spotted it sooner...
