What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Just another boring post of my weekend water changes, lol. Did garage tanks this morning and the 300 yesterday. The Fluval Flex seems to be running pretty stable now. I need to drop in a couple fish to cycle it and get it aqua-scaped, the move the puffer over. I’ve had the algae growth almost in check but I am getting a white film on the silicone seams. Not sure if it were cycled if it would cut down on that.

Hello all. Work has been killer the last few months which explains my absence from the forum. I'll really quickly share the below picture though. I set this tank up at the end of January and it's what I've been focusing on the most the last few months. It's a 125 stocked which was gradually stocked with 50 cardinals, 5 roseline sharks and 10 rosy loaches. Tons of fun to watch and is a crowd pleaser with guests. I hadn't really done any schooling fish for a long long time so I decided to go big with this one with the cardinals. Even with 50 in there the tank seems empty sometimes! That is until you come up to it and the big school comes to the surface to beg for food.

Some sadder news, I lost the majority of my similis shell dweller colony due to a heater malfunction. Killed my sumbu too which was the worst part for me. 2 males and a female survived the frying. My only tank without a thermostat as well. I thought I had learned my lesson when a similar heater malfunction killed all my tanganyikan rock dwellers in a 75 I had back in 2011 which is what caused me to leave the hobby until 2020. Sad news but it is what it is. Not sure if I'll try and get some more similis or rehome them and go a different route with that tank. Rest of my tanks are doing well though and I hope everyone on here has been doing well too.

Interesting development… went to feed the night crew in the garage tanks, the blue lights were on and I noticed weird movements on the bottom of the 46g bowfront. Saw at least 3-4 little BN pleco babies that seemed to be a good 1/4” already. Unplanned to say the least, I knew I had a male and female but there was no breeding cave so I figured I was safe… lol. They found a way! Male has a pit dug out under the large spiderwood and apparently the female visits.

Went looking for babies this morning and nothing, these little guys are hiding out. I would say there are about 4 babies for sure that are a good 1/4" to 3/8" long. Almost felt like it was a dream that I saw them, lol. I put a sponge over the Aquaclear 110 intake to prevent any fry from getting sucked in. Look forward to seeing if I can get a better head count tonight.

@fishguy1978, the parents are both albinos that had come from you. This is your fault! lol

Will need to do that asap, the 46 bowfront already has a pretty full bottom territory with 2 hoplo, 6 cory cats, 2 bn pleco, 1 green phantom pleco. The goal is still to move the green phantom and 2 hoplos out. Just not sure when I can open up the 65B for them. Likely will need the 65B for a bit as a hospital tank to deal with the sick pearsei. I really love the personality of my Oscar so if anything happens to the pearsei then Im likely moving the Bumblebee Oscar into the 300... then I would have a 90 to do something with too. But not wanting to deal with losing a fish.

Unfortunately, most LFS won't take them until they reach 2".

Thanks for the info, my hope is that this a one time deal. Maybe just give the kids away. If its a regular thing then one will go, likely the male since the tank is so small and she is smaller and more active.

Thorough cleaning of the 300 including scrubbing of all decor. Fish look so much happier, haha. Time to start moving some of these midas that i won't be hanging on to. A couple of them look perfect the others, meh, OK.
Picking up an ornate bichir tomorrow as well as a Synspillum. They are no long named that they are now lumped into the Melenarus name but there are still a few of us that still feel they are a different fish, :p

All other tanks got a nice water change as well.

Still waiting on the completion of the 600. Can't wait for that to get set up, i really have some, what i think, cool ideas for stocking it.

Welp until next time. Updates on my other topics with pics.
