Heading off to Petco Olympia to return the 75 gallon. It had a cracked lower frame. Of course no replacement 75’s in stock. They offered me a 90 at the half price sale... will see when I get there. I need a new background if I do this.

Got a 90 at the 1/2 price sale as a replacement. Say what you will about the big box pet stores but the customer service at the Olympia Petco is outstanding!

Upgrade to the landscape. She has been busy exploring the rock pile. There is a short piece of 1.25 pvc in the rock pile.

Happy to see that she has such a good home. The Tropheus sp. 'Ikola' didn't really mess with her, but I think they made her nervous. Hell, sometimes they make me nervous!

I recently received two batches of a Tropheus population that I've wanted for many years- T. moorii 'Kambwimba,' and they are super feisty! I have about 15 little ones in a 55, and already the intraspecific aggression is off the charts. You never know how the different Tropheus populations will behave. As adults Kambwimba look like this-

Frustrated! This project is having issues every step of the way. My Beamswork light was incorrect. Not EA in box, all white instead. Just ordered the replacement. Off to PetSmart Tacoma to get my background...

Ive been thinking this as ive followed your progress. Im impressed with your patience really, through all of it. I can only imagine the up and down of the excitement/letdown. You've come a long way, and its taking shape nicely. We are all looking forward to seeing the finished product. (Although is it ever 'finished'?) Its going to look phenomenal, and all your hard work will be even that much more rewarding

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words especially in light of the next issues... lol

I really want to scream at someone but I was super calm as I spoke to Petco about the replacement 90 gallon.

This was the reason I had to take the 75g back.
IMG_20200229_132920724.jpg No water in it just noticed it as I was getting it on the stand. That crack was all the way through. The store had no other 75s in stock so the offer for a 90 at the half price sale was nice. Another $100and bam I had a 90 gallon.

I really went over it at the store and it seemed good. But getting the background cut and ready to install I notice this:
IMG_20200301_185150999.jpg Not just one top corner but three have cracks!

I called the store and they are closing so they got my number and are having the day manager calling me tomorrow. They have no more 75 or 90 in stock and none coming soon so they are searching other stores.

Been working so hard to keep this project on a budget and buying sale items and stuff online and have just seemed to have this road block to finishing. lol, got to laugh or else I'd cry

You got this
Thanks for that!

Replacement light should be here Tuesday. Hopefully right product this time. Full spectrum and not just white.

Hopefully Petco can find an answer... probably just another 75 getting sent from some other store. I really was liking the idea of a 90.

On a much happier note @lloyd378 managed to find something very special...

I need to get a tank for him which was supposed to get the 90. I will try and get the puffer into the 30 and at least the 65B would work until I can get either another 90 or 75.

I have more shells and a replacement power supply for a fluval aquasky 48 LED ordered. I moved a male and female shellie to the 55g.

Cleaned the hairy puffers tank. Goal is to clean it often until the move so that it looks good when I put it in the rack. I did the same when I moved the arrowhead puffer. It looked like a brand new tank.

I also did water change in the 300.

On a positive note, the replacement Beamswork EA fixture came in and it was the correct light! One small win. Now the tank replacement is next, hopefully it’s available on Friday.

Yesterday:
Water changes on the 8 fish room tanks
Rode out to Maple Valley and snagged 5 Forktail rainbows, Peruvian Altum, 2 monster Pea Puffers
Added shells to the Syn/Shellie 55g. Very disappointed with the order. Majority of the shells were really small.

Worked on my 30 gallon and did the background. It is exactly what is on the hairy puffers tank just more blown up. Hopefully not too noticeable that it is the same. I like the tanks to look different.

I want the spiderwood in this tank as a centerpiece but am not sure if it will impede the puffer from swimming. The Arrowhead is not active and this tank falls under an acceptable size for it but I feel so bad moving him.

I am going with an Aquaclear 70 for it along with another Catalina heater. Beamswork EA led light. I could have set it up tonight but want to wait till I can see how much sun comes through the background. If it is too much, I need to put something behind it like cardboard or something.

I keep looking at the 30 with this spiderwood and think live plants... an anubias of some sort attached to the wood branch

I think a Frazerii would look good on the long horizontal and a nana petite in the crook of the Y.
Or, if you could find some java fern “windelov” it has “fingers” at the ends of its leaves and would go really well with the look.
@Colin James, took your quote from the other section and put it here.

I like the thought of the plants and will look into them.

Edit: Had questions so took them here: http://www.wafishbox.com/forums/threads/anubius.15200/

Got home and saw the background in the light and Im not sure if I should back it with something. The natural light from the window behind it looks cool but almost washes everything out. Im afraid it will encourage algae growth on the back wall. Still thinking on it but I have a piece of formica I can back it with.

Edit: went ahead and backed it with the piece of formica. No light getting through the back now. Cut out the backer strip for the Aquaclear 70 and hole for heater cord. I need to finish tightening up bolts on the rack and add two more support bars. Then I can fill it.

I forgot how deep an Aquaclear 70 is. I could easily double sponge it and have media in it. Was surprised how small the motor was on it. Always pictured it beefier in my mind.
