I blew up one of the pics to look at closer.

Body looks too elongated to be a typical convict, could well be a fish in the vieja family. Or formerly known as vieja as many were relabeled.

I’ve owned a lot of fish that were, at one time, classified as vieja. With that said, none looked like this one.

If I had to guess, and it would be just a guess, I’d say it could very well be a convict mixed with something like a vieja type fish.

@Madness, any guesses? You've raise many different fish, look like anything you had or seen?

Not a convict, but doesn't look like any Vieja I have ever owned. Reason is I have never seen a barred Vieja
