How big is too big?

My wife might let me get another aquarium which is pretty generous since our apartment is pretty small already. We live in a 2nd floor apartment. My question is this:
Does being on the second floor put a limitation of the size of tank I can get? I know tanks get very heavy very fast and don't really want to bust up the place. What sizes are suitable for an upstairs?

The only spot where I could put it is in a large recess under the window on the outside wall of the bedroom. That's why I might be able to get the tank is because the recess is now open. I imagine an outer wall would be weight bearing, right?

Big sheet of ply wood under the tank to spread the weight out...55 no probems 72 should be fine much more needs so spread the weight esp in an apt
How big though I have 100+ gls on 2nd story... but hav 2x 12 under the floor

Check with your apartment complex. I had to get rid of my 180 because of the size..and I'm on the ground floor with a concrete floor! lol.

Nobody wants 100 gallons of fishy water coming through the ceiling but a 5g limit is just sad.

Oh and I am on the 2nd floor and we got 2 55G loaded with rocks, and now the apartment list to one side. lol.

My personal rule is nothing over 40 gallons on a second+ floor. Not because of weight problems; I'm more worried about the tank breaking and giving the house MAJOR structural issues. Would rather have a tank bust on a concrete floor.
