**FREE Presentation** Bettas with Gianne Souza - GSAS
GSAS is proud to announce our January speaker is Gianne Souza who will be giving a general talk on Bettas. Gianne recently graduated with a masters in biomedical sciences from the University of California, San Francisco and is pursuing a career in science education. Her innate interest in genetics combined with a childhood love of fishkeeping led to the start of a fascinating betta-breeding journey. Although only seriously breeding bettas for show since moving to San Francisco for graduate school in 2011, the close proximity and support of the California Betta Society (www.cbsbettas.org) allowed her to quickly expand her hobby. Gianne is currently serving as the president of CBS and is also a certified judge for the International Betta Congress (http://ibcbettas.org/2012). She was honored to receive Betta Person of the Year at the Area 1 IBC Convention in Santa Clara, CA in 2014. Gianne was also invited to judge at the first Area 2 IBC Convention in Friedrichshaffen, Germany in 2014. More of her exploits can be found on her personal website, ingloriousbettas.com. She is extremely excited to meet the members of GSAS and to share her betta breeding adventures!
