I have a 2.5 gal tank I want to set up at work. Do you think a Dwarf Gourami would be ok a tank that size or is that too small?

I think 2.5 gallons is too small. The info in the link Pleco Party posted recommends a 24 inch tank as a minimum.

I wouldn't, especially if its still growing. I have a gourami that started life in a gallon bowl (a lot worse that a 2.5 with filtration) and he is stunted and misshapen. You could get a much smaller fish, or if you want something bigger a betta.

I still think it depends on the size of the fish. I do firmly believe in the inch rule.So if he gets one thats about an inch he should be good for a while. I don't know if the Dwarf Gourami would have the best quality of life but he didn't ask that he asked if it would be okay :lol!:

But if it where me I would just get a better like Fyurae suggest. You would be a hero if you saved one from walmart!

Platy's stay relatively small too. I have some in my 30 gallon and they are maybe an inch and half long full grown.

I wouldn't want to see danios in a tank that small, simply because they like the company of their own kind, and are very active swimmers.

Perhaps a betta, if the tank has a heater? Or look into cherry snrimp and apple snails. Not fish, but they could do well in a tank that size.
