Boehlkea fredcochui or Knodus borki ?

So I have had these tetras since I first started getting more into the hobby, and they were the first fish in my 20 gallon tank. I really like them, although they are getting a bit big now for the 20 gallon; they are super active fish, and though not that big, seem to like a lot of swimming space. I purchased them as Boehlkea fredcochui or Cochu's Blue Tetra, which has been around in the hobby for quite a few years it seems. But then, I found this article: here which mentions this species: Knodus borki as commonly mis-identified as Boehlkea fredcochui

The articles I have found on it never really have any pics pointing out the differences, but I have looked at quite a few pictures of "blue tetra" online and I can't tell if it's just color differences, or there actually are a couple of different species which have both been called Boehlkea fredcochui

Anyone on the forum have any experience with these or know anyone who does? Ever heard of this?

I suppose I should ask Cory specifically, since I got them from his store. They are awesome fish either way, and have displayed some great color as they have grown. Sometimes their fins get a little pink, probably after they eat when they are real happy.

Yeah, they are from Aquarium Co-Op up here in Edmonds.

I just noticed this morning that there are some egg clusters under the leaves of an unknown plant I also got at Aquarium Co-Op for $1. I doubt that they will survive, since there are lots of things in there that would like to eat them, but I may try to grab this stem and put it in my 10 gallon. I think the parameters are pretty similar, but don't know whether they stand much better chance in with a bunch of guppies!

Anyone interested in having a try at raising them?

There are at least 3 clusters I can see here, I think they are from the tetra but I guess I'm not sure?

Maybe? Like I said, I have no idea, I just noticed them today. I will keep an eye on them and if I see a bunch more tiny snails in a few days, I will know :p

I have seen one little guy in there that isn't the ramshorns I have a bunch of now, but could ramshorn eggs look like that as well?

It could be moneywort, but its leaves look bigger than what I have seen normally. But it does look really similar

lol good luck and personally hope they're not! lol they grow fast in my tank and suddenly there's a million where I really only minded a hundred. They are a little cool looking with darkish shells that are spotted with gold but they reproduce extremely fast and now I'm trying to get rid of them.

maybe it's a very happy moneywort or something in the same family.

Yeah, might be something in the same family, it definitely hasn't been happy in my tank until now, and it's starting to get much closer spacing of the leaves, and they don't look like crap where there's new growth

Even if they are snail eggs, I'm trying to sort of put my tank on a diet, so someone may end up making a meal out of them before they get too big.
