It probably is, keeping eggs around in my tank is a big part of the challenge with egg scattering fish, I've seen plenty of making but the eggs are always consumed by someone before I can try to find enough to protect.
I haven't been able to successfully raise up any tetra fry, if you do I know a guy that would buy 30-50 from you... You mention aggressiveness, what size tank did you put then in and how many?
I have swapped that gate valve from the original build with a ball valve, mine doesn't have a bleeder though. I actually leave the hose full but depressurized under the sink with another ball valve on the end of the hose. I use the ball valve at the end of the hose as the primary on/off control...
At 75' that is a lot of hose to coil indeed. I don't know if you were using 5/8" or 1/2" when you tried the rv hose, I use 1/2" for easier storage but mines only 50' long. I roll mine over/under and it sits in a Tupperware tub I put under "my half" of the guest bathroom sink, always connected to...
Oh and on that topic, once you set it up, make sure to run the hot water tap at the sink until you get hot water before trying to run the filler system. Trying to heat the pipe from the filler itself takes forever thanks to it throttling down so far because it doesn't have any hot water to open...
I doubt it would make much difference having 3/4 vs 1/2 unless your whole home has lower water pressure, and your sources have bigger fittings than mine. My source valves are only 3/8. I stepped the thing up to a rv freshwater hose (same connections as a standard garden hose) and get excess of 5...
I have no reason I could offer to not use a different one, only a positive experience to share about a specific one. Can't prove a negative very easily so honestly that one's worth trying too. In my case other than specific chemistry and math, I usually only recommend the things I have...
I use one of these all the time and love it. I thought we talked about it here somewhere already.

Cherry shrimp, ramshorn snails, about 1.75 gallons of water and ~5 lbs of black diamond sand capped with magnetic rocks (so you can pull them to the top when they sink into the sand). It took a while for the shrimp to come back out in the open after the invasive plant work, they have a great...
I did the first aquascape intervention to the little desk tank yesterday. It was wild...
Last May when it started:
Yesterday before the intervention:

I have decided to let the ludwigia grow out of the top and go searching for light, it's turned out pretty neat. Yesterday was also the...
I have crazy soft water at the tap with hardly any mineralization. I custom mix a buffer to add at water changes and typically when I'm due for a change the pH is slightly lower and I have a decent build up of nitrogen. I don't buffer between water changes if that's what you are planning to use...
